Adding minor league system to imported game

OK, I finally was able to import an OOTP5 league into OOTP8 (thru an OOTP6 trial version)... long story

Anyways, when I brought my particular dynasty league into OOTP8, it had all the MLB teams and players, etc. but only had an active roster and reserve roster. How can I add a minor league system into my world? Or can I do that?

thanks...

I don't know whether this will be informative or not, especially given the unique situation that you are in, having imported an OOTP5 league and all.

I created a new fictional league with no minor system, and the game made reserve rosters for everybody. I advance a season or two, no problems.

Then, I went to League Setup and clicked Add Minor League, All Levels. Immediately, a popup message recommends filling the minor leagues with fictional players.

But I wanted to see what happens to the players on the reserve rosters. Interestingly, nothing happened the first season. There was no reserve roster, of course, but the minor leagues were empty. The players were still there because when I went to roster pages, I could see additional names when I chose to see All Players in Organization rather than just Active Roster.

So, the game progressed to the offseason. Then I found that all former reserve roster players had been moved to Double A. I advanced all the way to the start of the next season and only then did the game refuse to advance due to empty rosters.

Then I filled the minor leagues with fictional players (a very tricky transaction; I think you may have to be commissioner, and you have to refresh the League Setup screen each time you change leagues in order to address the league selected), and the former reservists were still in Double A. From that point on the game handled minor league transactions normally, with players being moved up and down levels as usual.

So maybe you want to add the minors, edit existing reserve players to assign them to the proper minor league teams, then fill up the rosters with fictional players before proceeding. YMMV, of course, as I mentioned.
