FYI

I have the FULL file heading to Padresfan now fellas...with the full file you will have all images (including all 2008 photos from mlb.com & past player photos), logos, etc. File is much larger - around 113 MB.

I got around this by hitting the "all teams controlled by human manager" button. Then recycled through all of the AI buttons (all teams controlled by computer, run computer manager on all teams, allow computer teams roster moves).

The game fired all of the previously designated GM's, but it did allow me to operate the game normally after that.

Hope this makes sense, and helps.

Be sure to check out the READ ME file before you start simming / playing out games with the roster set. There are a few settings you will need to adjust before starting!
I can't seem to find the readme in any of the obvious places? Where is it located?

Good work btw with the rosters

I can't find readme file either, please help.

I think that the start date for MLB in the "league setup" should be changed from March 30 to April 2,2008. I noticed the schedule for the Toronto Blue Jays started in New York against the Yankees on April 2,2008, but a couple of Blue Jay pitchers and several batters had statistics for one game played already.

Is the start date for the season the same for MLB,AAA,AA and A leagues?

Just a little bump on this request - it would be great to have this option.

works great so far, one thing, the spring training schedule overlaps the regular season schedule, I had two games happen in one day... killed my pitching staff for the first few days of the season. (I simulated it, whoops) So I suggest that everyone either delete a spring training game, or watch for that to happen, I was using Seattle and the 3/30 game vs Texas was played on top of a ST game vs Toronto.

I am pretty sure this option is only available upon league creation.

I noticed this too. I had to start league over and unchecked spring training option in MLB setup.

Guys, go to the Edit League Schedule tab under the Game Setup/League Setup. Select the 3/30 and 3/31 dates and delete the Spring Training games.

This will eliminate the double scheduled issue.

As was mentioned, once the universe has been created you can't change this option. There is a work-around that you might want to try though - save the universe as a template (i think that is the option you want), then create a new universe with hidden players enabled. The new universe only needs one league, and you can always delete it. Then, from inside the new universe, you can 'add new league from template' (or something like that, I don't have the game in front of me right now) and all being well, you should be able to use the roster set with hidden players too!

If that doesn't work, let me know and I will check it out when I get home - I know I have done it before!

Where is readme file located?

Thanks for creating 2008 roster set. I am finalizing my new 2008 MLB league now and I have noticed one problem. I am managing the Toronto Blue Jays and when I begin to play the New York Yankees on March 30,2008 the "batting choices" for the Toronto Blue Jays do not appear at the bottom of the play by play screen (the pitching choices remain there!).
In addition to this, if the New York Yankees need to make a substitution I have to manually make the substitution. It seems that I can control both teams. By the way, I have "Commish mode" turned off.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

CBL 2008 Spring Training Roster Set Version 1.0

Good evening fellas,
It’s been several years since I last dabbled in the roster-creating market, however due to re-newed interest and available time, I now present to you CBL 2008 Spring Training Roster Set Version 1.0. The major step with this roster set is how I used the OOTP engine to generate over 1,800 ratings based on PECOTA projected stats. The short-version is I merged the Baseball Prospectus 2008 PECOTA spreadsheet into the 2007 Lahman DB; I then imported the database as a 2008 league. OOTP recognized the PECOTA stats as the player’s real 2008 stats and rated them accordingly. I went back and re-touched nearly all players to ensure ratings / talents appear to be in-line with real MLB. The roster set is as of Spring Training, and at this time I do not intend to re-release once we reach MLB Opening Day.

Each MLB team has three minor league teams; please note actual minor league affiliations are not included (i.e. Texas League, Southern League, etc).

Features:
• Over 1,800 players rated based on PECOTA stats for 2008.
• Roster will include ALL NRI’s invited to Spring Training. (most will be at an appropriate minor league level)
• The History of MLB pre-2007 is included!
• REAL 2008 MLB Schedule (created by GMO on the OOTP boards)
• Over 330+ prospects created based on each team’s top 11 as per Baseball Prospectus; star system is based on Baseball Prospectus scouting reports for each prospect.
• Injured players as of before the start of Spring per CBS Sportsline.
• Market based structure – larger market teams will have more money available.
• Injury Proneness based on Ron Shandler’s Baseball Forecaster 2008; player’s medical history available up to 5 years back. What this means – Darin Erstad and Ken Griffey Jr are more prone to leg injuries, Mark Prior and Carl Pavano more prone to arm injuries, etc. The higher frequency of injuries to the same location of the body is reflected by a higher # of injury proneness (scale is up to 200).
• MLB & Minor league stadium park factors based on Gambo’s spreadsheets.
• Accurate pitcher’s velocity & repertoire for a majority of major league pitchers and top prospects.
• Misc data / insights gathered from USA Today Sports Weekly, Baseball America, Baseball Prospectus, mlb.com, milb.com, baseball-reference.com.

What is NOT included:
• Actual Jersey #’s
• Actual salaries / contracts / service time; I believe OOTP does not know how to properly handle 200+ million dollar payrolls. Instead, I’ve reduced the average salary down, thus larger market teams will still have more $ available compared to smaller market teams. I let OOTP determine salary amounts based on talent level.
• Several Prospects may not have their correct height / weight. I’ll update these as I catch them (most are at a default 5’10”, 190lbs).

CBL Judgment Calls
There are a few items in the roster set I’ve deemed “judgment calls” such as
• Pitcher Endurance set to normal – this will result in more IP and more CG from starting pitchers that real life MLB. With Endurance set to low, it seems to me the entire MLB pitching staffs are always tired, even with 12 men.

Steps to Perform before playing games:

• Go to league game setup
o Set all teams to computer control
o Select the franchise you want to run
o Set Allow AI to make roster changes
o Run computer manager on all computer controlled teams. Most teams will release the excess players in the minors to free agents.
o Ghost players in minors is selected by default
• Go to Global settings
o You can enable scouting & coaches if you like (your choice)
o Player / Picture options – make the choices you wish here as well.
o AI Options – most are defaults – again, change anything if you want.

Spring Training –
• Current default is to have Spring Training games – however if you elect to run Spring Training a few teams (OAK, BOS, ATL, WAS) may have 1 or 2 Spring Training games scheduled on a same day as a regular season game.

Sim results & notes
• Overall, I am happy with the long term results from the file. I’ve noticed the first year homerun & RBI totals are down slightly, but pick up the following seasons. I hope you enjoy the roster set for many years to come!

Thanks for the information regarding the readme file.
I neglected to click the link on your previous post to see the readme file.
Sorry for my stupidity, and many thanks again.
