Somehow I doubt that. Although it would be great.

thanks

The update is appreciated, as will any additional tidbits that you may let slip out in the coming weeks. I'm looking forward to the next and best version.

It's more realistic to assume a late May release.

Terrific news. Yes, May is a while yet, but like others I believe I'd prefer to wait to get a solid product.

And while I admit there has been little detail, I like the hints about the scouting system. I loved the idea of the scouting system in 2006/2007/8, but in practice it was too much bother and sooner or later I would always turn it off.

Haven't we had a "solid" product, like since OOTP1?

Written scouting reports rocked. I'm remember how proud I was when one my players reached that "once in a generation type player" or "one of the five to ten best all time." Totally cool.

Now if you can get the family mode back, I'd be delighted.

Let's hope for mid-May. Somebody I know has a week off then

And getting the scouting reports in text form again is something I missed and am looking forward to getting back in the game. Not a huge thing but adds lot's of atmosphere and immersion for me.

Dittos on the release date, but what will be will be. The fact that the new reports will be available in an XML engine makes for endless possibilities to incorporate your own style into the descriptions. I like the sound of that!

It would be cool if it could be setup to be position specific. Then if you have a top line catching prospect you could insert names into the report, ie "this kid could be the next Johnny Bench".

Or maybe it could be setup to pull names of hall-of-famers out of your in game HOF and insert them into the scout text? In my game Forest Avera will be a no doubt HOFer as a C. Just think if the game could incorporate his name into the text line above without any editing from me. "this kid could be the next Forest Avera". How cool would that be?

Of course as someone with no real programming knowledge I don't know how or if this could be done. But it's fun to imagine

Agreed. Family mode allowed me to have like five sons randomly generated, with generic (average player, no talent, great player) that could potentially get drafted by a pro team when he was old enough. It was always great fun to see what position your son would be at, just how good he'd be, and where he was drafted and follow his career. Sometimes, I even traded for a crappy son, and he turned into a decent player.

I would always name my sons "Prodigy" "Jesus" "Fixture" "Killer" "Puttintane" etc. It was just good fun. Added an RPG element to the game.

It was part of the "charm" that OOTP lost when it from 6.5 to beyond. The scouting reports for me fall into that same category.

Football Manager does something like this already. Theres a field called player comparison or something to that effect, so when the occasional youngster that's generated w/exceptional attributes comparable to a past (or current) star, he's identified with that player, eg, Joe Smith touted as the next Wayne Rooney. Or in our case, something like Joe Smith touted as the next Vladimir Guerrero, etc.

but yeah, would add a very nice touch...
