12-team league, 1 division

I’m looking to setup a new fictional OOTP league and I was probably going to use 12 teams.
I know in previous OOTPs this was an issue/wasn’t possible, so I’m checking if it still is ..

Can you create single league OOTP fictional leagues that will have playoffs?

For example if I decide to create a 12-team league with three divisions of four teams, will I be able to put all three of those divisions in one league and have the 3 division winners and 1 wildcard winner advance to the finals?

Conversely I could do 6 and 6 in different leagues, but I think I would prefer 3 divisions. Let me know, thanks.

That seems to be well within the limits of OOTP. I honestly don't know why it wouldn't be. If you look at Padresfan's website, there is a schedule pack that probably has custom, realistic schedules for the type of league you are designing.

I've never tried it, but the options are there. In fact, that's what they are by default; if you create a 12-team league with three 4-team divisions (I don't know why you'd want to do that, but that's another story

), by default you'll have a wild card and 2 playoff rounds, a best of 5 and a best of 7 (you can change the length if you want).

and you could still even double the number of teams going to the playoffs if you want by Enabling Split Season format (You may want to have more teams in your league for this than 12 though)

You can't enable split season format with 3 divisions per league, unfortunately.

It would make sense for you to be able to because then you would have 3 divison winners plus 1 wild card in the first half,and the same in the second half,for a total of 8 teams,I think that is something that should be looked at as a possibility for OOTP 9
