Help me decide.

Well, I had another young player go down with a CEI. 22-year old phenom CF (2nd ML season). Well, I am going to pull out a "miracle" and bring him back. So, I want your input.

Basically i want some input on adjusting his ratings. To make it fair for him to come back. He injured his back. I figure i should sap his power. Although he wasnt all that much of power guy to begin with (12 HR in just short of 600 ABs). Basically he was a high average, good (but not great) walk drawer. He was above average on defense. Though only about average on the basepaths. So, what should I adjust downward (other than power)

Note: I also make him more prone to injury, of course.

Interesting question. I think I'd be inclined to reduce his arm power from CF especially and maybe reduce his range a bit.

How long did you make his injury when you changed it from a CEI?

I'd be careful not to over-do it. He's only 22, and there's plenty of examples of young people with serious back injuries coming back and carrying on normally with little or no ill effect. When I say plenty of people, I'm not just talking baseball, but in all walks of life.

"Well, I had another young player go down"

Are you impartial by doing this for ALL the teams or only your own?

I personally don't mess with the cards I'm dealt with, I would consider that I'm cheating and not fair play. Just my own opinion.

Havent done it yet. But, I am only in April. Havent gotten back to the game since. I was thinking of not bringing him back till at least next year. But, I'll probably just reduce the actual ratings not the potential.

Havent thought about it. The computer has a tendency to dump them as soone as injured. And I do have to say I dont like to tamper with personnel. Though, with you mentioning it maybe I should leave them on the FA for a certain period. And then force the previous team to resign them. (and disallow myself from picking them up, of course.)

One reason this comes up is this is like the 3rd Top 10 in 2 years to go down for me due to CEI. ANd I have never been a fan of CEIs happening upon those 25 or under (and really under 30 for that matter).

Sometimes I get paranoid and think the computer is screwing me over (I know better, it is just a machine.....right?)

But, yes, thinking on it if I do it regularly I will do it for all sides.

Sounds like he got the Don Mattingly injury. Adjust his ratings so you can expect him to hit around .280 while winning gold gloves, then have him retire right before the team starts winning the World Series.

How cruel is it that the Yankees went to the world series the year before he starting playing and the year after he left.

He clearly wasn't clutch.
