Double switches and base running
Can someone please explain to me the correct method to execute a double switch? Whilst this involved a pinch-hitter in the pitcher's spot, if it differs I'd like to know the defensive one as well.
As mentioned, after bringing in the PH in the 6th to bat, at the end of the inning I switch his position to LF with the current LF changing to "-". Then I moved the reliever into the pitching box, and then he moves to position nine, where I've just put the new LF. Why? It's obvious surely that I want to make a double switch and put him in position seven. So now I've wasted a PH and have to stay with the guy that is sucking big time at the plate in a game we're losing. Also, why does every single position change you make in the line-up card get logged in the box score? This guy now has against his name "LF, LF"! I have a PH, LF, and a LF, P as well! The whole thing IMO is cumbersome at best, and whoever thought it up obviously was a sadist. That's the first point. Second point, same game, I have a hitter in the 12th inning of a 3-3 game line a double with one out, and then get chucked out at third. Coming up next in the line-up is a guy batting .480 and has just had a 4-for-5 game, and already has three hits in this one. Even on the line-up it says he has a hot streak at bat. Why would I tell this guy to even attempt to get to third base when it's no sure thing? (In a partly related note, the p-b-p stuck at the bit where it said the runner was trying to get into second, and then said press any key to continue. Then when I see he's not on base, I look in the game log, and he's not thrown at second, at third. Looks like a bug, one of many I've found playing out games for the first time.) If the AI cannot decipher this for itself, can we not have an option to tell the hitter to play it safe on the base paths or stick to the scheme. And guess what, the guy batting .480 clubbed a two base knock which would have driven in the run. Fortunately the opponents bullpen went to pot and we scored six runs in the inning with two down. Still both things are very confusing and infuriating to me. Last edited by Sdpm100 : 04-10-2008 at 08:26 AM. |

For the first one, you should drag the pitcher into the 7-slot in the batting order and set his position to pitcher from there rather than dropping him in the pitcher box.
Can't help with the second I'm afraid! |
