Hey there,
in order to demonstrate that we're alive and kicking, here are the first 4 screenshots of OOTP 9, which will be released this spring! The game is currently in beta testing, and we'll start promoting it very soon A pre-order period will start very soon as well, you can pre-order the game for $24.99 instead of the normal price of $39.99! So, let's go: ![]() Here you can see the news of the top 100 prospect list being published. OOTP 9 handles this list differently from previous versions, it is published once per year instead of being regenerated everytime you view the report. Also, players get an entry into their history if they make the list. ![]() This is one of the new features, the written scouting reports! Also, OOTP 9 tracks past reports as well, one per year for every player in the game. Also, you do not lose any scouting reports when you replace your scouting director unlike previous versions ![]() ![]() The scouting system has been rebuilt from the scratch, resulting in less micromanagement and more realistic handling. You set a scouting budget during the preseason, and then distribute it to different areas... the more you spend in certain areas, the more accurate are the scouted ratings! ![]() This is the normal player profile, showcasing the new skin which is called 'OOTP Modern' ![]() We hope that you enjoy the screenshots and the new skin. It is not final yet, but the release version will look very similar. Cheers, Markus NOTE: The game will NOT ship with real player pictures and team logos! Looks nice but I like the Top 100 list to reflect the best prospects at the moment. Doing it once a year takes a little fun out of the game and will greatly reduce people using the feature.

Thats true but it was always fun to check the list throughout the year and see how your prospect/system stacks up against everyone else. And its going to look silly when a highly rated prospect takes a talent hit. I know everything cant be optional, but I love the way it is now and dont really care about news articles..especially since many players will have gotten talent boosts or taken hits and the news articles are not presenting current accurate information..

Apologies. Or it can be taken that it was a great development idea to begin with and thanks are in order.

Maybe we should have the option to do it like in real life, of like in previous ootp versions.

The scouts BMI looks a little low to me. All that road food should lead to something higher.

I love what I see about the new scouting system. A very welcome change is keeping the history of scouting reports on players and especially the fact that you get to keep past scouting reports if/when your Scouting Director changes.
Markus, get out the Teflon and spray down your ego for the next few months so that all of our nit-picking and complaining slides off of you. You put out a fantastic product and we appreciate your work and effort despite our constant complaining... Even if the playoff system isn't as flexible as I would hope for (I couldn't resist). I'm sure that I speak for almost everyone in the forum when I say GREAT WORK!!!!!!! |

I know of no other baseball sim where you can know your scouting director's BMI. That's detail, folks!

I'm really glad to see the new scouting system in place. That's something I may actually use now!
I also like the one-time top 100 publication list. I personally dislike that it changes throughout the year now. What I'd really like to see is guys who have had significant playing time taken off the list. In a current league of mine (which I never have a chance to play these days), the previous year's rookie of the year is still on the top prospects list.

First off, I -really- like the new skin.
A question tho... "Also, OOTP 9 tracks past reports as well, one per year for every player in the game. " Is this done in separate text files, or in the player's history? Just I've noticed that 2007/8 tends to bog down from all the files after many seasons, so more text files is a concern of mine. Looks really nice so far. Very clean! |

But this is a very good start/renewal.

One little interface observation...the Font in this version appears very different from the SI versions. Why did you change it? I thought the lettering looked very "clean" before. Also, the tabs look different, not like something you would "depress" as in the current version, but rather something that just appears when you put the arrow over it. Is the hand still in place too?
