Forget that. I just realized the OOTP Blue skin is close enough to what I want in a classic OOTP skin. An old-time, black and white or aged newspaper, skin might look really cool.

Many of us do not use the scouting system, thus this new way of running the top 100 system makes absolutely no sense. Why this is being changed makes no sense to me. Make it an option for those who want it, but many online leagues do not use scouts, so this is a reduction rather than an addition to the game. Sooo, someone from an online league perspective explain how this is a good idea and I will listen. I've heard many complaints about OOTP from online folks (the only OOTP folks I interact with) but the Top 100 list has never come up, hehe.
If the idea is to force everyone into using scouting, fine, then dramatically reduce the saved game file size and you might have a deal. Otherwise, you're hurting online leagues.

For the Top 100 prospects thing, I often throw a look to it to see what it says at whatever point. Over time I have come to pay less attention to it, partially because of the mentioned issue of players being listed when they should not be "eligible" for such a list anymore and partially because I did not much believe the info there. Maybe the latter is more a function of how I play or that I am a really bad GM. Or maybe really good.
I like the change to a once a year thing, but I can sympathize with people liking the old way. The current list shows a couple player stats like Avg/HR & W-L/ERA or something like that. Maybe that gets chopped off leaving only the names for this to be a news-capable thing, but if the rankings stay static through the year but the stats and level are constantly updated I would really like that. Just dreaming (or maybe repeating something someone else said), perhaps there could be something like a personal top 20 list of your scouts accumulated prospects report that updates more frequently and depending on what your scouts go do. |

Oh, sure. I was just trying to make sure where you were coming from. IMHO, it's a legitimate concern, if that's what it was.

um...I just want to say Markus that I like your idea for the new Top 100 prospects method. It is more realistic to what occurs in real life. Plus you don't need to check the list for updates in season, that is what scouting amateurs or minors should be for. And anything that improves in game news articles and story writing, player bios is good for me.

Markus looks good man - looking forward to another release!
Quick question(s) / suggestion(s).... any way you can turn off the "% Rested" status and just leave the actual name? For instance - as a manager I may know Frank Smith is "slightly tired" - but in real life I would never know the actual %..... he is "65% - slightly tired" is currently what we would find in OOTP. Any way you can state his condition, sans the actual %? Also - I would LOVE to see a return of the "OOTP Out-of-town Scoreboard" that cycled through other games being played at the same time in the actual sim screen (instead of a seperate tab). thanks! I'd much prefer a compromise solution of giving us the option for either once a year Top 100 or constantly updated Top 100. I think I would check the Top 100 once a year. Why bother after the first time if players are going to constantly be changing their Talents and Ratings? With an updated list, I check it whenever I want to try and make a trade. Maybe I'd check a once-generated list 20 years down the road when I am looking through my league history.

On that topic, can I set my own scouting budget? If I'm a team that needs to rebuild, I want to pump as much money into my scouting system as I can. Being stuck with a fictional 'owner' when I have 'owner sets budget as off' and yet he is still giving me a million dollar scouting budget when I want to put five million towards it would be.... frustrating. Which makes me wonder just what a scouting budget affects. Do my scouts only get to scout, say, half of my league if my budget is low for the Majors? Or does that mean they only give me rough sketches of each player rather than in depth looks at all of them?

Thanks for the update!!!
I'll preorder as soon as it will be possible....i don't care too much about skins but i like the top 100 idea. I like the idea behind the new scouting system too. And i'd like to know something more, if possible at this point, about the upgrades in historical replay (the way i play more) and (if there's something new) the pitching system. Thanks a lot, i really can't wait for the release!!!!

Plus only having a word description of the rest level gives the OOTP user more of a challenge in managing their team.

This argument over yearly top 100 vs. instant is not logical. In the NHL, the ISS releases it's list of top prospects 3 times a year. An NHL GM can't call them and ask "where to you rank John Doe THIS MINUTE?". The NFL & NBA don't even have "scouting services" that officially rank players. That's what scouts and reading game/stat reports are for. If you want to know how the 25th ranked player is doing, send a scout to check him out.
Keep it real Markus. ![]() |

Just showing my support for the next version. I think it looks great and I love that sliders where added for scouts. One thing I hope is working in the next game is promoting coaches from minors to the majors. Please make it work
