Trading injured players for OOTP9 ?

What does everyone else think ?

I really can't understand why a player can't be traded with minor injuries. I would like the ability to trade, or trade for injured players - at least those with minor injuries, or day-to-day injuries.

Sometimes the players I want, or want to trade for, right at the trading deadline have minor injuries - making a trade impossible.

I will admit, it is irritating being unable to move or acquire a guy with, say, two days remaining on a sprained wrist or something similar. I can understand it for serious injuries where the guy is 100% out, but for minor injuries it'd be a nice change.

I read this thread title and thought it was going to be about trading injured players for OOTP 9. Sure! I have 3 players out for the season, I would love to trade them for a new game!

In actuality I wouldn't care either way. IRL you can't trade injured players but I understand people wanting to play that way.

I say it should be allowed, as it is allowed in real-life. I see the potential for people to take advantage of it, but there are countless ways to take advantage of the AI in this game, so what is one more? At least allow us to trade for injured players, if not trade our injured players.

Well, maybe a future version will allow for post-dating a trade, i.e. supplying an effective date agreed in substance and awaiting execution. That'd be the correct way to handle it, I think, allowing for some interesting salary management and maneuvering, but unlikely that time remains for that to be coded into this year's version, IMHO.

You're both half right. You can't trade injured players... unless you get the commissioner's permission.

I think it's probably closer to reality to disallow them entirely.

It would be nice to see grades of injuries (minor, short-term, long-term, career threatening?) introduced as a way to solve this. I doubt the Commish is getting involved in trades that involve a guy who has sat out a few games with a sprained pinky. Nothing seems realistic to me trades being deemed invalid because a guy has an insignificant minor injury.

As for the long term injuries, I'm fine with those remaining invalid.
