what happens if i turn scouting off?

so far i always played with scouting and somehow enjoyed it too. but not i encoutered a very strange bug with ootp 8 http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...all-teams.html for the second time. this bug means that most of my scouts are still on my personnel list, but i cant send them anywhere.

as there seems no solution for this bug, i consider turning scouting off. but how will the game be then?

- will the numbers shown on players profile be their "real" numbers or will they be as inaccurate as SISA?

- how is the new draft pool evaluated without scouts?

thanks for all help. i didnt want to start a new game as i invested quite some heartblood into my dynasty.

I'll just comment on the condition and leave my opinion of scouting out of it. I remember talking to somebody else who had the same thing happen to him; the cause for us was deleting a league that employed those scouts and coaches. When we hired them, they were still affiliated with their old teams and could not be tasked or fired. If this is your situation, you simply have to wait out their contracts because they will disappear eventually. In the meantime, you could turn scouting off and see how that goes for you because the clock on the bad personnel contracts will be ticking in the background.

thanks for your useful answer.

problem with this is that i play out every game, so one season for me takes about three to four months and some of those contracts run still four or five years.

could you tell me how to deal with the draft without scouting?
the league were those scouts and coaches are isnt visible anywhere. the rosters of those teams have no players etc.

thanks a lot.

No problem. I hear you about the day-to-day. I sim each game and micro-manage in between and I waited out the problem as I mentioned. I can see you being frustrated for much longer in real time.

So, I'll try to give some advice on how I handled this situation from memory because I don't want to ever recreate that problem, if you don't mind! And maybe some others will pipe up as well.

First, if your amateur draft is being fed by feeder leagues, you can use high school and college stats to make judgements until you get your scouting staff back online.

If not, you mentioned turning off scouting because this is bothering you. Does that mean all of your scouts are in this unresponsive condition? Because if that is not the case, what you could do is turn off scouting for most of the year, and turn it back on only for the time needed to scout the upcoming amateur draft. This works of course only if at least one scout can be tasked. You might have to leave scouting on until the draft to see his evaluations.

Does either of these work?

Thanks again! At the moment my game is heavily relying on scouting. For example next opponent, but also my own teams.
At the moment about two thirds of my coaches and scouts are in the condition. Not a big problem with the coaches, but it seems that only my really good scouts are unresponsive

At the moment I have no highschool or colleage feeder leagues.

I just thought that if I turn scouting off, the ratings shown on the profiles are 100 % correct (unless SISA). Off course this would be much less fun, but still worth trying.

With scouting off, you'll see the players' true ratings- no inaccuracies from SISA! This holds for all players, including those in the draft.

Ah, right you are, I.L. I "misremembered" and thought the draft comes up blank in that situation.

Which is why you may want to consider using that "one scout solution" as a house rule. It would bother me to have perfect knowledge of the draft. As a matter of fact, if I were to turn off scouting, I would turn off some of the ratings as well, personally.

I see ... Guess I will have to make a decision during off-season.
Unless the guy from the tech forum can help me to get rid of those college ghost leagues.
