Question Player ratings

I am curious about something. In my fictional Universal Baseball Association, I have all ratings shown on the 1-20 scale. I have coaching on, scouts off (or is it vice-versa?!?).

I have noticed, however, several players whose ratings fall outside of this 1-20 scale. A couple of them have been SIGNIFICANTLY higher than 20. For instance, in my current game between the Portland Pioneers and the Kansas City Rustlers, Portland's Rimes in CF has a defense of 24. Roberts in RF has a 26 DEF. Their catcher Morehead has a 21 Catchers Arm. On the KC side, Uranga is rated 28 at 1B, Rosewood a 25 at 2B, Scott a 22 in RF and Hutchinson a 23 in CF. KC pitcher Donald Lang as a 21 Movement rating.

The aforementioned Ryan Roberts also has a 22 speed and 24 stolen base rating, as does Tim Hutchinson of KC.

I am wondering why so many of these ratings are outside of the game file's standard range. Are these guys extraordinary in these areas? (They DO seem limited to mostly defense and baserunning--I have never seen a hitter's contact, power or eye above 20). Anyone know why I am seeing these high numbers?

Player ratings are based on a 1-200 scale, with a 200 being the top. So a player with a 200 rating in a category will show up as a "20" on a 1-20 scale. But Markus uses 1-250 in the actual player ratings, so exceptionally gifted players will go above the 200 "cap."

I like knowing when my players are above the norm (thank goodness there are none with minus ratings!), but' if you don't like it, you can turn it off in the Game Setup screens.

Thanks for the insight...has this always been the case or is this something new with OOTP8? I have been playing OOTP since version 2 and this is the first time I have noticed something like this. Kinda odd, but also kinda cool.

It's been the case since v5, though the overall point scale was changed with v6.
