Retirement Age

I was curious what age limit you put on players retiring. I left mine open and it seems like I have too many players playing until 42 or more.

I want a few at that age, but not many. If you are bothered by what you are seeing, try nudging up the Batter and Pitcher Aging Speeds in Player Options. By how much is the key question; the manual suggests a range of 1.000 to 1.500. Maybe 1.250?

Thank You I have never touched those options before, but I dont want 20 40 year olds neither. Thanks for advice.

My pleasure. I thought a bit more, however; you might want to try 1.100 at first because I have read that a bit of a nudge goes a long way on those controls.

Thank You I had put it at 1.25 but am only a month into a new league so I will put it at 1.10 and see how it goes.

FWIW I set my league up with development at 1.000 and aging at .900 and ten seasons in I notice a few 40+ players but nothing untoward. I'd forgotten about the setting until this thread started so I'll get some more detailed feedback for you.

Thanks for the info. Now I changed the rating about a month into my new league. Will it change or do I have to start all over again. Thanks in advance for your input.

Bosunmate, I did a quick check of the 16 teams in my major league (25 man rosters). There are 35 players who are 35yrs or older of which 5 are 38+. The two 40yr olds are a first baseman and a starting pitcher, both in the final year of a contract and both on the decline. Hope this is of use.
