If you can go a month or two without having OOTP to play, you're better off waiting for the additional features. If you can't try the OOTP8 demo and see if you want to buy it now and wait until a patch or two into OOTP9.

As the man with the ridiculously giant signature said, if you can wait, you might as well. Unless you have the extra $30 to spend so you can play for the next month or two, of course.
(Honestly guys, almost 20 lines with full sized text, links and bolding? If it feels like I'm suddenly on a quest for small signatures, it's because I've suddenly noticed so many of you with sigs taking up half of my screen at 1280 by 1024 resolution. This is getting ridiculous.)

It all depends how much time you will spend playing the game.
OOTP9 is probably 6 weeks away from release, at least. So lets say you play a reasonable one hour a day for the next 40 days, well that's 40 hours of great enjoyment you will get. It's half the cost of bringing your family to the movies which last about 2 hours. So in that scenario, you will certainly get your money's worth and learn all about the game and be ready to tackle OOTP9 right on when you get it, transferring your on going league from OOTP8. ![]() Last edited by BusterKing : 04-22-2008 at 12:19 AM. |

However, two things are now occurring to me:

Having a ridiculously giant signature is one thing. Being too lazy to check "off" the Show your signature box when make multiple posts in one thread is something else entirely.
No matter what your signature size is, please don't display it more than once per thread. |

All this time, all these posts, and I never even noticed that option. The problem is, unless it is "sticky," most people are not going to bother on every post to uncheck that box.*Quote:
Now, don't get piqued at Kelric. He may have done what I did, which was to go looking in his user options for one that says "post only one signature per thread" without realizing that it's an option for each individual post, down below. Or maybe he is perhaps much smarter than I am and indeed is being piquant with you. ![]() *Edit: No, it is not "sticky." But look, no signature ↓↓↓↓↓! I think this thread has about piqued. Downhill from here!
![]() Edit: Oops. Pardon my signature. There I go again. ![]()

(Look, ma, no sig!) Edit - I'm never going to remember to click that thing. And I like seeing other people's signatures, so signatures stay on. ![]() |
