All I can say about that right now is the following:

If Markus is able to implement even just half of the system I proposed, you guys should have enough to keep you quite happy.

I can't say more until I get the powers-that-be give me the green light to talk about it in more detail.

This maybe a dumb question but I'll ask anyway. If I pre-order this, do I get a option of a electronic download of a CD-Rom disk? It looked like anyone could order either of those options but when I went to order it, the electronic download was the only way to do it. Will they put this on a disk for order?

I see the problem but it does not look too good that the Europeans have to pay for the Dollar problems.
That problem's still there? That sucks. There was a big discussion about that a while ago. I cn't remember what the cost was, but for people outside North America, it was more expensive.

I'm Back!

I am someone who has been with OOTP since the initial release of OOTP 1 back in the late 90's. I was somewhat disappointed with OOTP 7 and got away from it........now, 2 years and a 2 year old child (one other reason for being away so long) later, I have returned with the pre-order of OOTP 9. I look forward to getting/playing the game again, as well as starting (and hopefully finishing) a historical league report of some kind.

Thanks for pointing that out; I went back to look at it, pretty snazzy.

Me too, the more I look at that, but I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the improved financial page. To me, that's always been somewhat of a head-scratcher and any improvement there is most welcome. I don't like taking things on blind faith when it comes to money management in this game.

Long time buyer, not posted in years. I assumed that the Euro/dollar situation was to do with Paypal, until I bought DDS:CB from Wolverine, which was $39.99, and was able to pay in dollars. Some clarification on the issue would be brilliant (or just a link to the relevant post where's it's been discussed before). I'll probably end up pre-ordering it anyway, as the difference between 24.99EUR and 39.99EUR is about $24.

So...ummmm....

Changing colors is a daily management? Sounds like too much micromanagement...thanks, but no thanks

It's not like you have to change them daily. It's just a quick link to something you might want to change. I can definitely see arguing about whether or not it should be included in the Daily Management section, but I can't see where it's micromanagement. Don't change them if you don't want.

It's not exactly a "problem." My understanding was essentially that U.S. buyers are getting a break, because the dollar has fallen so far, and Markus & Co. didn't want to charge the new "higher" dollar price that would be equivalent to a steady price in euros. So don't think of it as Europeans getting stuck with a higher price; think of it as Markus taking a hit on selling the game to us poorer Americans.

I thought it had something to do with taxes, or something out of OOTP Dev's control. I could be wrong. In any case, even if it was a discount, it would be a pretty inequitable one.

Well, Markus should probably just charge everybody the euro price then.

No, things are sold at different prices in different markets all the time. If I had the choice, I'd take the European economy and the European price in a flash. Nobody over here needs to feel sorry for them.

If they can charge everyone the same price, perfect.

The inequity comes from having the same product, with no, say, shipping costs, location advantage, or anything that can increase the value of the product, at a different price for different people. I can understand electricity being cheaper in Québec than at the North Pole, and I can understand a cup of coffee being more expensive at the metro station than in a suburb Tim Hortons. But, I have trouble seeing something of the sort for OOTP. We get the same product, which costs as much to "ship", and there is no benefit to buying the game in Europe rather than North America. (Also, note that I've paid the US price for every version of OOTP - when the exchange rate sucked for OOTP3, and when the exchange rate ruled for OOTP8 - I don't think the value of the currency has anything to do with this).

If, for example, Vizaweb charges more for European countries, for some reason, then I don't have a problem with OOTP's decision. If OOTP decides that it wants to make a profit of, say, 30 bucks on every copy sold, and Vizaweb charges 10 dollars extra in the USA and 15 eur extra in Europe, then I don't have a problem with OOTP's decision. I'd have a problem, however, if every cost related to putting the game out was the exact same and OOTP decided that instead of charging everyone 45 dollars, some would get it at 40 dollars and some at 55 dollars or whatever.

The word on pricing from last time, available right here on this site with a few seconds on the search utility...

And since three out of four paid team members live in Europe and we do not sell 100,000 copies we have to raise the price a bit.

There's certainly a "location advantage" for the Europeans.
