Then in your case, just turn it "off", and those of us that want it can have it "on." Fair enough? Good.

Agreed. There are many of us who got their first experience with computer baseball sims when MicroLeague Baseball was released. Ball flight was a huge factor in the anticipation and tension that could build up with that game. A sim can be text-based and also incorporate some graphic elements. MicroLeague did it, and it's no coincidence that Strat-O-Matic used similar elements once it released its own computer game. It makes the product more enjoyable and marketable for a larger segment of the audience. And it doesn't require a commitment to console-style 3D graphics.
There is no good reason why this shouldn't be added to OOTP as an option. I hope it's in the plans for OOTP 9 or a subsequent patch. This nearly led me to switch to PureSim last year, and if PureSim can improve in just a couple of other areas, then there wouldn't be much of a reason for me not to make the change. |

What some people seem to neglect is that there are already some graphical elements in OOTP. You have pictures of players, of stadia, of scoreboards... it's already an impure text sim.

It makes no sense to me why this information was not included among the new features announced in the newsletter. Some of the audio details were already mentioned, so I can't see why there would be a need for secrecy. Markus, can you answer my question above?

That's irrelevant. I'm not a beta tester and have not signed an NDA. The newsletter contains plenty of information about OOTP 9, and it came from the development crew, so that is why I am asking Markus and not beta testers to answer my question.

I'd like to hear the crack of the bat too, and some more variation of the background crowd noise. In the OOTP 6 version you heard the same track over & over.

Charlie, I think 'goo is trying to explain to you why nobody who knows the answer to your question will speak up at this point. I have no idea what NDA stands for, but I am guessing A is for "Agreement" to act in certain ways in order to be a beta tester. Since they are the only ones that have seen certain features in development, features that may be left on the cutting room floor so to speak, they have agreed not to speak of them in order not to get us all excited about stuff that may not make it into this version. As far as Markus, I will guess one more time to speculate that such an order came from him, for that very reason. We just have to be patient for now.

![]() Maybe we can get these questions answered, but time spent doing PR work is time not spent coding and debugging. I have reported enough bugs, so I know the developers are busy. |

They make the beta testers sign them. I had to sign one a few years ago.
(Don't bother me people, I'm no longer on the team ).

![]() Anyway, I cleared up the confusion with Raidergoo, who was just pointing out that responses were going to be minimal because those familiar with OOTP 9 have signed them. I'm still holding out hope of getting a couple of quick responses from Markus. But we'll see. I'm glad that others are interested in some of the same feature additions. That helps build support to get them in the game. |

I am pretty sure the answer to my question is no, but since it hasnt come up directly in this thread ill ask anyways:
Does 'sound' for ootp 9 include play by play announcing? Perhaps ill have to just wait for the release to find out because of the aforementioned NDA? |
