This board need rep, that made me laugh out loud.

You you prefer he have left the bug unfixed then?

So, instead, they put out the same game again, get more people to put out more cash (while not making it really clear that v8 isn't a new game for the newbs), then abandon it to get another bunch of cash out of you, all for basically the same game. That's alot to swallow in one year.

But hey, enjoy. It's just my opinion, I'm sure it means nothing.
First off, they were separate companies at that point. You do understand what that means right? It doesn't seem that you do.

Secondly, you act like this is the only feature he is advertising in OOTP9...a big fix from previous versions.

Of course!! Don't you realize OOTP6.5 was the perfect game? Why would you want to change anything about it? You simply can't mess with perfection.

He also said, and has no real reason to lie, that he finally found the issue. I am by no means a developer, but I do have a few hobbies that require some coding in PHP and C and I know that I often have bugs that just elude me for extended periods of time. Bugchecking/spotting is the most difficult coding task which is why so many bugs end up in any software.

Honestly, he fixed, in part or in whole, the omniscient AI bug, which was at the root of this issue. Why shouldn't he mention that he repaired it? Other bugs are mentioned as repaired when they are included as service packs for the software...should he not mention those?

Hell, while we are at it...why is Madden football in such a rut? They have had essentially the same game since ~2003. They have added very little overall and my gameplay experience hasn't changed appreciably and they still call for ~$50 each year? Only reason that I've bought a new one recently was my PS2 expired.

OOTP is an excellent baseball sim and I rather enjoy it so why wouldn't I ante up for OOTP 9?

This is the part that bothers me -- if, in fact, Big Koolaid is telling the truth. Did Markus NOT acknowledge the problem? Here, in fact, is an old thread with some relevant discussion:

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...oing-well.html

I sometimes think Markus dismisses complaints too quickly. It aggravates me when he ignores legitimate issues. I'm sure it frustrates him when he spends time investigating a problem that turns out to be not a problem. I get that. But most of the beta testers I know do not raise issues frivolously.

Not really offended, just curious why a bug fix was anounced over there and then only brought up by a user telling us the good news. How do we know the next step isn't letting them download it first? Maybe we are becoming the new ITP in Markus' life.

Markus explain why he posted the anouncement over there not why we didn't hear of this bug fix from him. How do we know that FOF boards are not becoming his boards of choice.

This being the official OOTP board, anything like that should be announced here first. We shouldn't have to be reading FOFC in order to get the current news flashes about OOTP.

I'm not defending FOFC or anything, but wasn't it explained that someone there asked a question directly referring to that issue and Markus just responded to him?

Does he need to check with us here first before he does so? I don't think so, and I don't think anyone here should lose sleep because he bothers to post on other forums too.

Well, if the FOF boards were to become his board of choice, then it is probably because of the response in threads like this, here. That's all I'm sayin.

3 posts, people. Marc Duffy posted on the OTBL boards 5 or 6 times. Does that mean he liked the OTBL twice as much as Markus likes FOFC, which is itself better than he likes the OOTP boards and therefore likes the OTBL boards more than twice as much as he likes the OOTP boards? Or the SI boards for that matter because after all Marc Duffy did choose to post on OTBL those 5 or 6 times instead of at SI. It's obvious that Marc Duffy would much rather have discourse with Gastric Reflux than with a long-time member of the SI community. WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE????

I am glad that you posted that link as I thought of that thread as well. I remember a discussion of this very issue over at the simcentral boards sometime ago. It was rather frustrating to see pitchers, putting up such solid numbers, just disappear. Hopefully the "bug" really is fixed this time

This was an issue for me as well, so I'm in the same boat as hoping it gets fixed.

Other than that,

And it's not the first time it's happened. I get that he's trying to drum up business and there's nothing wrong with that. But you'd think that there could at least be a cross post or something.

You know what really bugs me?

The guys over at FOFC had the nerve to say that the people here at OOTP Forum complain about stupid things like the Top 100 list and Scouts wearing suits.

Yet, not even two pages into their "great" discussion they're already arguing over the price and how Markus is trying to pull a fast one on them by not fixing the bug in OOTP8.

Really mature there fellas.
