OOTP 9 quickstart SL 1 cities

Top 8 cities will be selected for use in a sub league.

It would help if I could spell Brooklyn

perhaps an East/West or North/South set up would be better than the general SL1/SL2 set-up...

either way is it 1 division or two and are they geographical?

Los Angeles
Chicago
Dallas
Philadelphia
Houston
Miami
St. Louis
Orlando

It's going to be 2 subleagues, 1 division. Year is set to 1961, with similar model to real-life major league baseball of that era.

That way, we can give people options to do some expansion, and divide into divisions of their choosing, and show them how to use that functionality.

Seeing as how San Diego isn't on either of these lists, I'll have to test the waters of expansion and see how it goes....or I could always play as Los Angeles

Caution: Need to view cities in the SL2 thread first before voting here.

I'm surprised by how well Cincinnati is doing. I guess because of the tradition behind having baseball there. But by modern standards, it's not a city that should have a baseball team. I know it's 1961, but still.

Not that I am complaining, and I know it's not supposed to be exactly MLB historical, but two Boston teams are a bit troublesome. I wonder how many of us voted for this Boston thinking of the Red Sox, which I think was more in line with SL2, and how many voted here thinking of the Boston Bees or Braves? If you are going to have two in LA, two in Chicago, and two in Boston, I think it would have been better to have Brooklyn in here over Atlanta. This Boston and Atlanta are like having two Braves franchises, in my mind. But, I'm glad Pittsburgh made it. Vox Populi, so they say, and so be it.

I kinda agree. There shouldn't be too many cities with 2 teams. It will confuse some people and possibly just be annoying. I think in the whole league maybe 3 cities should have 2 teams

Could Boston (13th largest city) support two clubs in 1961? Probably not by that point. Boston did support two clubs up until 1952. It is a suboptimal set-up, but this has been seen in MLB repeatedly in its history. I imagine one of the Boston teams would be ripe for relocation, to perhaps Milwaukee, Houston, or Dallas. Go west, young man! Keep in mind how spoiled we have become with reliable, cheap jet travel over the last 40 years. Boeing made baseball's westward expansion possible, and their 707 did not go into service until 1958.

Keep in mind that one of the goals of this exercise is to demonstrate "how to" do something. Some people might not know how to relocate a team, and how to get a new stadium in place. I hope to be able to use this for screenshots on how to do this. Using a quickstart would make sure that the picture in the manual agreed exactly with what is on your screen.

Maybe a quick runoff poll to decide whether to drop either Boston or Atlanta from this SL1 in favor of Brooklyn? I'm not being a homer here, by the way.

Raidergoo, you posted just before this one. All right, it's just a suggestion, worth. Think enough people may agree, though?

Would it be OK if one of the teams that migrated west (or south, to Atlanta) came from Brooklyn?

Let's leave it up to your judgment; you've done enough work already. As I said previously, it's not supposed to be the history of the MLB, just MLB-1961 flavored. Go with what you got and think best. Looking forward to it!
