IMO nicknaming the SF team "Golden Gators" has to be one of the most inappropriate names ever.

Hippies, Treat, Seals, Fog, Mastodons...almost anythng would be better.

For my fictional leagues I often pick names like:

Red Giants (this is usually my team)
Comets
Meerkats
Sharks
Neutrons
Dynamo
Jaguars


The team nicknames chosen by the game often disappoint me. "Nightriders"...gee whiz. No thinking person in the USA would pick such a name for a sports team, for obvious reasons.
