Converting from PC to Mac

I think I'm ready to make the jump from PC to Mac. One thing however is there any hope of transferring my league files if I do this. I know I can run Windows on the Mac as well but if I want to buy the Mac version can I keep my leagues or will I be starting over?

Should be no problem to keep them since they are compatible. Mac and PC players are able to play in the same online league and submit files so I see no reason why there should be a problem.

I transferred, and didn't have any problems.

Nope. Directory structure's exactly the same.

In fact, for a while, I experimented with having both the native Mac version and the Windows version running in WINE, both pointing to the same data directory.

It worked just fine.

I'm sure this is COMPLETELY UNSUPPORTED BEHAVIOR(tm), and if anything goes wrong it will do so in a bad way, but it worked for me.

Did you prefer running it native or running in WINE one more than another?

The performance under WINE seemed to be a bit better. This is likely due to the fact that v8 is a PPC binary, and you have a lot of overhead due to Rosetta on an Intel mac. I imagine that with v9 this problem will go away. The other nice thing about running it under WINE was that the scroll-wheel worked.

On the downside, WINE and OpenGL don't mix on Macs, so if you're going to go that way, you'll be without FaceGen, and X windows don't integrate very smoothly with the rest of the Mac desktop.

I've reached a performance/convenience compromise by running the native Mac version without FaceGen, which helps do away with alot of the beachballs. I'm looking forward to v9 and native Intel support.
