I've used Fictional Universe in a Box (v2). Thought it was way cool and it's ready to roll like it says, right out of the box. Midknight (the creator) did a previous version for ootp2007, so v2 is an update for ootp8, and he has upgraded and fixed some things along the way. Not sure any other quickstart has that history.
Give it a try. It goes all the way down to HS and NCAA for feeders, and they have uniforms and caps and all that! |

BP's Fictional set is very well done. Just three levels of minors for those who don't want too much detail. Very stable and easily tuned.
Find it at The OOTP Mod Squad

Some of this is overkill because you only asked about the zip file, but since I had it opened I went ahead and set it up again. Some observations: 1. The final downloaded zip file size is 38.5 MB (actually, 39,516 KB to be exact; there's always a difference between what's reported as total download file size versus how much hard drive file space it takes up). Also, there should be 837 files in the zipped file. Is that what you got? 2. I cannot tutor you in the use of a file compression/decompression program. I can only tell you that I use WinZip 8.1 which handles everything fine for me. I have used WinRAR on occasion, but only if required; I don't keep that program around normally. Oh, and if you are on a Mac, you can stop reading here. Don't know nothing about no Mac. 3. This mod is a bit tricky in that it's not a quickstart ready to go, but a template with resources. Forgive me if I insult your intelligence, but did you (or make sure you) read "Fictional Universe in a Box v2.0 README" and follow instructions EXACTLY?(.) For example, if you don't place the template file in a folder named world_templates located in My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data, nothing will work. 4. Copy everything that he says to do in his readme. Note that some things (two .dat files, jerseys) get copied after the game is created using the template. Works great! And I am again impressed with the job that was done on this; the FaceGen backgrounds alone are priceless. Heck, I'm playing it again this weekend! ![]() Two more thoughts: 1. This is one reason why I like participating here on the forums. It enhances my enjoyment of the game, as you can see. 2. What's going to happen to some of these mods when OOTP 9 is released? Will they be compatible or will they require alterations? Will I be able to do them myself, or will the modders do it for me? How will OOTP 9 updated mods be differentiated from OOTP 2007/8 mods on the web site where we got this one? ![]()

I've been wanting to get back into a fictional league myself. Unfortunately, with the impending release of 2008, I've been trying to hold out the urge as long as possible to start anything. The fictional league that's going to come with the game that they've been working on sounds pretty neat...
