Beer Leagues In 2009
Are these going to be possible this time 'round? I mean *really* possible, without players 'retiring' left and right?
May not be answerable till we get the game (I haven't been following terribly closely), but may as well ask. |

What do you mean by beer leagues? In OOTP 2007 I have multiple independent leagues with very low talent levels and salaries and they seem to work fine, coexisting with dozens of other leagues of various levels and salaries.

That was in v.7 I don't *think* this was changed in 2008, but I can't say for sure. |

I set up a 'softball' beer league this past weekend, with fairly high scores with essentially no talent for pitchers. Turned off financials, scouts and coaches. Set average attendance to 100. I set the creation age to be 35 to 60. Only had 12 teams, no affiliates.
In general, it worked okay. The main problems I ran into were average attendance being ignored and like the OP said, players retiring. I had a 56 year old MVP retire after his first year. Hopefully this can be tweaked for ver. 9. It was kind of funny to see the injury proneness of a 60 year old.

Neags, did you adjust the capacities of the league's stadiums? I think that will fix your avg attendance problems.

I didn't. I was just too lazy to go to every park and adjust the capacity. For the 12 stadiums it wouldn't be too bad, but if there were 30 or so, you'd definitely want the average attendance setting to function properly.

The average attendance works IF the league's stadiums are set to near that number. I'm not so sure it isnt working properly.
It wouldn't take that long to edit the capacities of the stadiums, IMO. Actually, a beer league would only play on a couple fields, so why not edit a few fields and then randomly assign them to the league's teams?

With leagues like this, I'd usually have one ballpark and have all the teams play there.
