Ball Park Pics
Are different ball park pics going to be incooperated into the game. Ive managed to use lots of different logos schedules etc, but never managed to get a different pic of a ball park real or not in. It just screws up on me!
Any news? |

I don't get it. I've used all kinds of stadium pics with no trouble. I attached a graphic of Coors field here. Could you DL it, unzip it into the folder under My Documents/Sports Intereactive/OOTP 2007/(or OOTP8)/data/ballparks. After you unzip it, go into league options, click on edit ballparks, select any team or stadium you want, click the tab for pictures, and in the box for daytime type in Coors Field and then hit enter. This should make that picture appear on the screen. It sure works for me.
EDIT - IMPORTANT Oh man, I forgot a step too, when you click the tab for pictures you need to type in Coors Field.jpg and then hit enter. I forgot the .jpg part. I think this will result in the picture not loading. Last edited by OldFatGuy : 05-16-2008 at 10:55 PM. |

O.F.Guy, that's way to much trouble for me. I have a number of sport sims and its much easier to display ballpark pics than in OOTP. If you don't enter the name exactatly, well with all the goodies in OOTP, this is one feature I would like to see.

It cannot get much simpler than importing stadium photos into OOTP. It just may be a different method than you find in some other games. Maybe some folks want something as simple as extracting a stadium photo into a folder without ever having to touch anything from within the game. But that wouldn't offer much in the way of flexibility. After all, what if you want to create your own custom stadium and then assign a photo for it? The game won't know automatically which file to use.
Honestly, if the OOTP method is too difficult for some folks, I can't imagine how they can even run the game at all. |

Yeah, I get that. In your opinion, that's too many steps to do for each stadium. What I don't get was it sounded like the first poster was trying to go through the steps but it wasn't working, and I've never had a problem. I was wondering if he was maybe missing a step or had corrupted stadium pics.

It would be nice to be able connect a stadium pic with a city so that when we start a new dynasty, the stadium pic will automatically be attached to the cities team.

I think the current method is straightforward, and gives plenty of flexibility. I'm not sure why people are having trouble with it. |

I think it would be nice if you could have a folder with stadium pics named after team name and nicknames, like you do with now with jerseys in the jerseys folder, then the game would assign stadiums the same way it assigns jerseys. Would be nice to if it assigned ballpark factors based on a folder with text files named similarly.
Just my $.02. |

Yes please, this is exactly what I wanted when I play with real teams, awesome!!, and maybe some fictisious ones. Much prefer this than to have a stadium pic that is real and of a difficult angle. Wouldn't it be grat though if the attendance was accurate in the pic!!. Half full, full during playoffs!! |

As far as assigning pics to cities, it seems to me it could be done automatically the same way we do logos and uniforms...by naming them by city and nickname. In the \ballpark folder, we could have filenames like: Chicago_Cubs_day_awholebunchoftwodigitnumbers.jpg where the numbers are the ballpark factors.

That's a drawing of New Yankee Stadium, confound it to heck!
![]() He may have found it here: Ballparks of Baseball-Yankee Stadium-New York Yankees That would make it unique, not one of a series of similarly drawn ballpark pics, although I agree that such a series done in this style would be nice for our game. "New" Yankee Stadium. Sigh. In time, I suppose I will become . . . fond . . . of New Yankee Stadium. For now though, having done my duty here, I avert my teary eyes in sadness. I find myself unable to gaze upon that cursed image any longer. ![]()
