Is there a need for a Manager???

Or, to put it better, is your team put at a player developement or performance DISADVANTAGE if you don't have a manager???

I ask because it's frustrating to look at league history on the managers page and see the computer manager of my team getting the same credit/blame I do when I'm the one doing the work.

Yes, Markus has said that not having one puts you at a disadvantage, since even if you make all the calls the Manager has an effect on training and handling. He's more of a bench coach if you make all the mobes.

Thanks Zeke, was wondering about that. It's a little odd though, since if I become one of the top managers of the managers history list and keep the same manager, he will be right there beside me with the exact same records. Seems odd, so I was going to just go without one. Glad I checked first. Thanks again for the reply.

This is one of the areas I hope for improvement over the next few versions. It'd be good if you were offered the opportunity to fill both roles from the onset of the game, so the record would be intact for your individual performances and achievements.

On the other hand, IIRC, there's no mention in the team's history of the manager for any given year; that, too, would be a nice addition. Looking back over a team's management history and being able to see just when who might have made a difference.

Speaking of the manager, I'd like it if player moods reacted to things like manager hirings/firings or other aspects of how good a manager is at things (e.g. handling veterans). I don't know if they already do to some degree, but I can't seem to see it.
