Just for note, I wouldn't play with women's leagues. It was fun in Mogul, but Mogul was a pathetic game.
Just for the record...I also think having 8 different inactive lists is ridiculous.

Once again, you are stating your opinion as fact. You feel it would be a waste of time and resources, some people don't think so. I'm not saying it's a lot of people that say that, and I don't count myself among them, but it's really childish and ignorant to believe that any opinion differing from yours is ridiculous.

Another issue that I have with women's leagues is that you'd have to add in a crying rating. I'd almost want to see this so that I could accurately model Joey Cora, but it does strike me as non-purist.

I sincerely hope that was sarcastic, otherwise it could very well be the dumbest reply I've read in a long time.

Tell that to Joey Cora immediately after game 6 of the 1995 AL Championship series!

Exactly. Women in the game is another dumb idea that would take programming time away from matters that actually are important.

This is just so dumb..I advise most of you to start drinking heavily...I know what I'm talking about, I'm in pre-med, err. what pre-law, whatever.

I'm guessing the majority of this board, and others, aren't exactly frat boys.

Also, if I'm ever rich and famous enough, I'm going to finance a Women's pro baseball league .

IIRC, someone stated that if you had women players, you would need not only a different FaceGen, but a "RackGen" as well.

It's an interesting idea. I've been toying with writing a novel set in a universe roughly anagolous to the Midwest in mid-century where baseball is the only sport. Men play alongside women, but women are allowed to pitch only; they can never bat or play another position. They must throw underhanded, too, which ensures high-scoring games. Furthermore, the "girls" (as they are inevitably called) don't get much respect: they have to wear frilly uniforms with short skirts on the field (like the AAGPBL players did in the forties) and it's strongly hinted that the managers and coaches get their "pick" of rookie girls for sexual favours.

A former player, Mike McCormack, becomes coach of the last-place Quicksteps, who hasn't won the pennant in decades. Desperate for talent, he recruits Megan "Nutmeg" Kaminsky, the daughter of Sandy Kaminsky. Sandy, a teammate of Mike's on the pennant-winning Stars 20 years earlier, was kicked out of the League for having an affair with the owner (in truth she had spurned him, and he had her banned for life). Embittered, Sandy has forbade Megan to play baseball, but the willful "Nutmeg" decides to play for the Quicksteps anyway...and she has a heckuva curve ball...

There's much, much more, but I'll spare you for now...

Quite possibly the best idea I ever had

Consider this to be my request (although I've already requested it a couple of times before). I have little to do but think while mowing lawns, and I spend a fair amount of that time designing leagues, including women's leagues.

There are (or have been) professional women's leagues for basketball, hockey, soccer, tennis and, yes, even baseball. So far as I know, only the WTA has a game that supporters of real sports management games can play. (Tennis Elbow Manager — a really great game with a very responsive designer.)

Is Women's Baseball a niche market? Certainly. So are 19th century baseball and Negro League baseball, both of which also receive less than full support from OOTP. I for one would be happy if the women got as much support as either of those other two, which would probably mean community support, not designer support. Since I do not have the time, talent or resources to add to that support myself, that leaves wishing that more talented and generous members of the community will step in to fill the gap.

Oh, well. 'Next year, in Jerusalem.'

But really all I want to do is play.

So I'll try harder to be patient and hopefully the board will be patient with me.
And yes, I am still continuing my campaign to promote adding a 'mass select' option to Out of the Park 10.

While I certainly see where you are coming from, I don't know if you want as much support as 19th century baseball or negro league support gets around here. We still need 3rd party templates to play with those kinds of rosters and settings, since OOTP still doesn't support importing seasons before 1901. And we need our great roster folks to fix up nice negro league roster sets for us. Even with enough support to get those kinds of 3rd party utilities, there still hasn't been enough done in the game to help those of us that love to play those styles.

I'm in favor of women playing baseball in OOTP. However it needs to be prioritized correcty, where ever that is in Markus's list.

For the record, although I haven't considered playing with women's leagues, I also didn't consider having a league on Mars either and now I do. If the option is there I'm sure people will use it.

I think one of the announced features for OOTP 9 is better 19th century support.

I agree. As I said, it's not a massive priority, but it is certainly something that can, and in my opinion should, be done.
