Welcome to the Information Age! I know that getting Internet is a big deal for you. I recall a post of yours a while back that said you weren't really in an area that got Internet and that you went to the Library to get online (at least I think that was you). Now you'll be able to post or read the forums all day!

Great gesture by Markus to follow up on this one. And that, my friends, is the magic that is OOTP.
What a wonderful, and enlightening thread culminated in a perfect conclusion. OFG offered up a heartfelt philsophy on the AI level of baseball sims in general. This he tied neatly into a bug he noted with the OOTP product. overly optimistic proponents came out and decreed, "you must be wrong because this game is perfect". The naysayers came out and took some shots of their own about the state of the AI. Markus reads the criticism and feels a little angst about the critique. After several back-and-forths he takes time out of the final leg of OOTP 9 release to address the issue at hand. My respect for Markus and his product just climbed a couple notches on the developer-o-meter. As a developer myself (I'm currently converting an aged DMV Drivers License Issuance Application written in Cobol to an Adobe Flex SOA solution) who is smack in the middle of UAT I know how draining/irritating/stifling/you-name-the-emotion it is when folks are bashing on your creation and livelihood. Even when it is something as innocently stated as OFG mentioning his AI anomaly, it can feel like a figurative slap in the face to the creator. However, Markus felt the challenge, defused the situation, and won the respect of a fellow developer (for what that is worth). Kudos! I still agree with OFG that MLB sim AI nirvana has not yet been realized but, I'm hedging my bets that if anyone can eventually get us there it will be Markus. |

OK, I have checked the league file, and the game is working properly. First, you do not have any minor leagues, just a reserve roster, so the choices for the AI are limited. In the case of Baltimore, the only other guy who could make to rotation other than the newly drafted Juan Sanchez is Chuck McFadden, and he has even worse ratings at 5/1/1, compared to Sanchez' 5/1/3 (I turned scouting off)...
If you had minor leagues and plenty more players for then AI to choose from, then this would never had happened. But in this case, the AI did it perfectly right ![]() |

Right there...this is why this is the best game on the market.
How many times can you send a message to the developer of the game you purchased, stating a problem that you're seeing, and have the developer address your question personally??? I have owned many different games throughout the years and have never even come close to getting the service I get, and have seen others get, for free. I really think there is no better sports simulation product on the market, period. Forget graphics. That's what video consoles are for. Stick to the important things, and this product will continue to rule!

Thanks for the compliment guys, but there are some other developers like me out there who listen & reply to feedback, like Gary Gorski, Shaun Sullivan, Arlie Rahn, among others. Basically most small software company do this, and very very few big ones too, like SI
