Legends of the Bush League

My 2 legends

I traded for Joey Cordova back in 1923 under V6.5 and it has just been the most awesome career to watch. Because of him and my great pitcher Hoss, I've been over the salary cap, but it has been worth it to watch these guys on a regular basis.

James Hoss was traded for back in 1919. After being brought up in 1921 because of an injury to another pitcher, he practically went undefeated at 15-1. The only slight hiccup is missing a 30-win season in the first season under V2007 in 1927 which would have made 8 straight 30-win seasons.

Because of these 2 players, I've had to make multiple tweaks to the league totals as my league suddenly went from a 40 - 50 HR leader to a HR or K when at-bat. One guy on another team was on track for over 80 HR's in a season. You can see by the 500 k season for Hoss in 1929 how crazy it went. Cordova's injury shortened 1928 season had him belting close to an average of 80 for the season.

It has been really cool to see this league change over the last 35 seasons and I'm looking forward to see it continue with V9.

You say that you tweaked league totals as a result of these numbers or they resulted from your tweaking? Or is it that in 1924 you moved to OOTP 2007 and saw this begin to happen? I don't recall anybody mentioning such an issue involving the conversion of a league from 6.5 to 2006/2007, but maybe I was not paying close attention to that because I tend to start new leagues with each new version. And, I was thinking of not doing that this time, as I really like my current league.

What I had noticed was that, in 6.5, the league totals never changed year to year giving you a consistent 40 HR leader. When I moved the league to V2006 thru 8, I noticed the league totals changed every year to match historical totals even though I had nothing checked in the historical boxes. I had to adjust the percentages way down for HR's, K's, and HBP's because they went out of whack. I was setting records with 19-21 strike out games with 2 of my pitchers. At first, I thought the pitchers were just great because Hoss had a Stuff of 115 in his prime, but then I noticed my team would hit at least 5 HR's a day as well and I decided to tweak the settings. Also, Hoss would hit over 60 batters (74 in 1931) in a season while having a control rating also over 100.

I adjusted HR's percentage to .5, K's to .45 and HBP to .25. Hoss still hit 25 batters last season, but his ratings are dropping from age and I expect to see changes due tot that. I still get HR leaders over 60, but no more 400 k's in a season. The leader for HR's in a season has 71 when he never hit more than 45 in any other season (sounds a lot like Bonds). This year's HR leader was Cordova with 50. I am happy with that number. The K leader had 315 and was the only player in the 300 k level.
