Waivers, releases and the offseason

Basically, OOTP 2007/8 doesn't process waivers and player releases when the season phase is "Offseason". For example, you can waive someone in my online league and no one will be able to claim them. This was true all through January, but now that we're in February, the season phase has changed to "Preseason" and waivers works for anyone new placed on waivers. Everyone on waivers from January is still not listed on the wire.

The same is true for cutting players, although it seems that the charge is just delayed. If you cut someone in January during the "Offseason", it doesn't show anywhere on your finances until February and the "Preseason".

Basically, this bug isn't going to get fixed, but is there a way to control when the "Preseason" starts? For our league, January 1 would be great, that's when we start free agency. Right now, it starts right around Feb 1 (not sure because I'm not commish and the latest sim went to 2/10).

That is pretty weird, the game makes no difference what state the league is in when handling waivers. Are you sure there is a problem?

...

Im far from a expert BUT, I have had this happen myself. Well in a way i should say. If you say to pull back player if claimed the same thing happens. I dont know if this helps but figure more innformation is better then not enough.

I've had a lot of posts and never had you reply, although I've never appealed to the highest power of OOTP Thanks for your reply, let me try and describe in a little more detail and hopefully it helps.

So, it's been an issue in at least the last two seasons of our online league. I wish I had a league file, I'll ask the commish if he's got a backup from earlier this week.

It's a hunch I had after last season, we went through free agency with no one on waivers until the end, but more than just my team had transactions listing people who went on waivers and then cleared. Definitely sucks because it basically let people clear up their 40 man rosters.

We do the Rule 5 draft (where waivers still works) then we sim to 1/1 and people start bidding on FAs. From 1/1 to 1/31, any team could put people on waivers and they will count down their 10 days (in our league) but never show up on waiver wire in the HTML report on the web or in the game.

We are now on 2/10, and it says "Preseason" now instead of "Offseason", and as soon as I put a player on waivers, he shows up on the league waiver wire. The players that have been on waivers (and still are, even though they've cleared during the last sim) don't show up there, so only new additions show.

If you need more information, beyond a league file during the Offseason period (which I'll try and get), let me know. I'm sure the commish didn't flip any league settings between 1/31 and 2/10, since I noticed this last year as well, but I'll ask him anyway.

Theirs no preseason in real life because offseason starts when the season ends and goes to Opening Day with dates like when Catchers and Pitchers have to report to camp,Winter Ball starts snd so on Key dates that aren't in the game yet.
This has been said a Thousand times I think but no anwser yet will Spring Training have Non Roster people,Spring Training Stadiums,Minor League Camp,Split Squad Games,Games against College and Minor League Teams,Transaction Rules like in real life because Teams are not setting their Opening Day Rosters before the end of Spring Training and so on?

Well, I've never had mgom reply in one of my threads, and its as useless as I ever imagined.

There's obviously an "Offseason" and "Preseason" in OOTP 2007 and everything else you said should go in a thread elsewhere!

yes, I've been wondering what's wrong with this mgom guy????? His posts are endlessly incoherent run-on sentences that seem to beat a dead horse as far as making a point is concerned.
