Best ML debut?

Well, I just started a new season in one of my games. ANd a rookie 1B for Cleveland on Opening Day, in his first game went 5 for 5 with 2 doubles, 1 HR, and 4 RBIs.

Anybody have that happen in your OOTP experience?

How about worst debut?

I had a number one overall draft pick (pitcher) who was promoted to the majors after about a month at single A. On his way to the mound to warm up, he high-fived a fan and broke his hand. Out for three months. That's one I will never forget (and shall continue to embellish as the seasons roll past).

But really all I want to do is play.

So I'll try harder to be patient and hopefully the board will be patient with me.
And yes, I am still continuing my campaign to promote adding a 'mass select' option to Out of the Park 10.

I don't know about first games, but I had a pitcher come up from the minors when a starting pitcher went down for about 6 months in spring training who went 26-0 in the regular season, going 760 innings with a 2.94 ERA. I got him in a draft the year before, randomly brought him up to fill a hole, and he more then did his job. I don't think he ever won more the 20 games after that, but that was one heck of a rookie year. I've run a ton of leagues and pitchers with better ratings and even ones I've hand tweaked to try and get the same result don't come close.

We didn't win the title that year, though. Wasted effort, if you ask me.

760 innings? Come on now. That would mean even if he went the full 9 innings per start, he would have had to start over 84 games.

What's to say he wasn't using 2 man rotations?

Hey, I just know what I wrote down... I took notes at the end of the year. I'll see if I can drudge up the old save somewhere. I see that it doesn't add up, so I may have taken bad notes.

... ok, I found the old save, and it was 260 innings. My handwriting's bad, sorry.

If he was using a 2 man rotation, I don't think his ERA would be under 3.00.

Yeah, if he pitched 760 IP, I dont think he'd be alive.

As far as players on my team...over the course of my entire time playing OOTP (v3-OOTP 2007/8) I've never really had an eye popping debut by anybody but I've had a about 4 guys hit a HR in their first career at bat inclduing someone in OOTP 2007 who hit a HR on the first pitch they ever saw.

As far as pitching goes, I only remember two that stick out in my mind. One was a guy who threw a shutout in his first start. I don't think he was dominant or anything just solid. He gave up something like 8 hits and walked 3 or 4, just always pitched out of trouble when he needed to. I also remember a different pitcher who ended up with a ND but pitched like 7 or 8 IP with 13K's while only giving up a couple runs.

Its hard to pay attention to the computer teams players to that extent where you remember their rookie debuts...but I remember a pitcher that I think threw a no-hitter in like his 2nd or 3rd start.

Well, admittedly I found it only because it made the news. I have been simming a month at a time (trying to get to a certain point where I'll actually "start" to keep up with it. But through May he was at .360+=14-41 with 15 doubles. In June, he fell off. Down to .320. Only had 6 RBIs and 0 HRs for June. Still had 6 June 2Bs though. Been mostly a DH (only been in 4 games at 1B, and his ratings in the field, to put it nicely is Kingman-ish ) I think the pitchers may be catching up to him (that and the fact he only has 13 BBs)

I had a guy pitch a no-hitter in his first major league game. Amazing. Though he did walk a few batters and get an earned run. He hung around in the big leagues for a couple of seasons, but never really did much with his career.

I have a screenshot of his player card...
