I really don't see why people have a problem with this. When early versions of a game were close to going gold (High Heat from years ago comes to mind) the previews/first looks were always posted at the reviewers site. They didn't releases their opinions/thoughts at the companies site.

As for why certain people can post info, and most other's can't, it's really no different than what occurs every where. A company will allow certain outlets to post teasers and first looks, but the majority of testers are under a confidentiality agreement. If everyone was allowed to post anything, it would become chaotic.

Beta testers can post anything Markus allows them to post. My guess is that the conversation went like this:

SKY DOG: [whistling] "Uh, hey, Markus?"

MARKUS: [swigging Red Bull #22] "Go away. I"m coding and the All Star break is coming sehr schnell."

SKY DOG: "Yeah, right. I was thinking though that I wouldn't mind posting some stuff about the game." [glances curiously at screen]

MARKUS: [switches to new Victoria's Secret screen saver] "What would you post?"

SKY DOG: "Just some stuff on how you set it up and how the stats look."

MARKUS: "Oh, you mean like Duffy's old RTR stuff?" [suddenly scans the room] "What ever happened to that guy?"

SKY DOG: "I think you split awhile back. But, yeah, just like the RTR stuff where beta testers wrote up their results despite any NDA."

MARKUS: [sets the shifty-eye up toward SD and turns the light beam into SD's face] "Not a word about the super-secret residual coaches, richtig?"

SKY DOG: "Uh, yeah, right."

MARKUS: "One question. How are splits supposed to work?"

SKY DOG: [Displaying] "I think you put one leg out this way and one out thata way."

MARKUS: "Holy Cobb but that's gotta hurt."

SKY DOG: "You're telling me."

MARKUS: "You can post, but only under one condition."

SKY DOG: [rubbing stretched ...er... hammies] "What's that?"

MARKUS: "Post only on FOFC."

SKY DOG: "Right-o. That will really confuse them."

BATTISI: [enters stage left] "Sounds good. It's a secure place. No one will think to look for it there."

MARKUS: [startled] "Ach! [begins rotating his swivel chair in circles, grimacing] I've crashed my wrist into the keyboard!"

BATTISI: "Sorry about that."

SKY DOG: "DTD for 4 days, 85% effectiveness."

MARKUS: "Must remember to reduce the impact of injuries in beta builds."

It's on its way now. It'll take a while, but just for you, I went ahead and posted the link. You can go ahead and starting poking through the history section now if you want to grab a morsel or two before the whole thing is there (I estimate around 1pm). Two notes:

1. The images aren't in the upload queue, so some things will look a little goofy for now. They'll be uploaded after all of the data is there.
2. Facegen was off for this sim.

What is all the bitching about? The guy has a proven track record of running great test sims and following up with very good suggestions for modifying the default settings. I've used his numbers every year he's given them and have been extremely pleased with the results. You're going to ruin a good thing with all the complaining.

Certainly looks that way. Every team seems to be pretty equal among their player ratings for left and right.

I do find the Leavenworth Shivs team city and name amusing, though.

In that build yes, but it will be fixed during the beta

The primary reason for posting the HTML as a part of the preview is that the many members of the communities all have their pet "issues," that sometimes get overlooked. I'll go through the threads here and at FOFC and log any issues that people mention, and I know that Markus is reading both threads as well. Thanks for pointing this out.

Is there any possible way to get certain items in bold on the "sion player page" or whatever it's called now?

I see that being named a prospect is shown on there now, and sometimes it's hard to find things like MVP or no-hitters with all the talent listings.

I agree completely. Sky Dog has earned his chops, no doubt about it. And as to getting stuff out early, if you look around at other games, it is routine practice to let a couple of people into a beta toward the end of the development process so they can write a "preview" as opposed to the more traditional "review" that is written from the gold version.

I went through 6 or 7 teams and didn't find any players with ratings both in the infield and outfield. Which not every team has one, there are a handful out there.

I think that's a good idea.
