Lightbulb Fictional league preview over at the FOF boards

Hey guys,

like every year, SkyDog over at the FOF forums was kind enough to showcase a fictional test league. Please Check it out here:
OOTP9 Fictional League Preview - Front Office Football Central

Thanks SkyDog!

Very intresting indeed.

I'm cofnused about one thing though; why wasn't it posted here on the company boards?

Does it make too much of a difference? It's here now.

I'm looking forward to perusing the uploaded HTML.

Maybe trying to expand the game's audience perhaps? A lot of FOFC guys quit on this game awhile back, and probably haven't given it a fair shake since. I think if any of them tried OOTP8, they'd be pleasantly surprised.

It's just a tradition, SkyDog has done it the past few years that way, so why fix what's not broken

Fair enough. Just amkes sense from this side of the screen that stuff liek that is announced on the company's board/site and then released from there. Thanks for the answer.

And there in lies the problem. Many people, like me, don't visit the FOF Forums, unless they are into that game.

I find it strange that announcements about the game are made over there and in some cases never made over here.

It would make more sense to post it here where the majority of OOTP users look for game news.

It is broken when you have to visit a site that's not connected to the game in any way for news about a new release or features there of.

FOFC is not the official FOF site. It's an independently run site that is frequented by text sim enthusiasts and nearly all of the text sim developers post there. It's easily the largest independent forum on the internet dedicated to text simming. (I actually own the domain textsimcentral.com, which may well be a better name for FOFC.) Independent sites post previews and reviews of major releases all the time. (I remember reading Civ4 previews in at least a dozen different places not owned by Firaxis.) Why should OOTP and FOFC be any different?

I'm not saying it should be different, just saying these types of announcements should be made at the games official website first.

There have been plenty of posts by the developer on your forums that never make it over here. Most businesses I know advertise thier product on their official site first and foremost.

I know there are other skins shipping with the game, but seriously, that's the gayest, most clinical looking skin I've ever seen.

It was posted here. In this very thread.

Is it so hard to follow a link?

I think it should have been posted here and linked to from there. It's kind of strange the way it's done.

But Skydog does have a choice where he wants to post his review. And mostly likely its going to be his forum.

Markus should of also pick another non bias beta tester to review in here too.

The good news is Skydog is non bias and will not hold back. He will give his honest opinion whats good and bad.

Skydog was not happy with OOTP 7 and 8.

Wow, that really is good news. Say, did you know that SkyDog runs the largest independent forum on the internet dedicated to text simming? He's also great with face packs!

So why does Skydog get to violate the NDA? What gives members of FOFC the right to receive exclusive information from a beta tester, whereas other testers are not allowed to post a damn thing on these forums?

I don't get you. The guy has repeatedly treated you like cow dung in the past and yet you praise him?

Personally, I would have rather seen someone else get the chance to do the preview, but Markus wants to showcase the game to the FOFC gang so this is what we get. Oh well. I'm not gonna read it, but I'll look at the pretty pictures. I'm thankful for that.

I imagine it is part of a marketing plan. We're trying to do something for TSW, too, albeit a lot smaller.

While I do think it's odd that the first preview shows up somewhere besides here, (having an independent site is good) the biggest problem I have is....

...the 20 season html isn't up yet.

He's waited for the newest build, which just became available. I just installed it a minute ago.
