are all of those coaches former players?
There's a bug in OOTP 2007/8 where former players who become coaches duplicate, sometimes more than simply two. So it may not just be redundant names, but the same former player. I was really hoping that'd been fixed, as I don't play with coaches on as a result.

Bingo!
I looked at three (and only three) non-hispanic named coaches that had duplicates in the coach listing: Andre Isberg, Hackett Mallenbrandt, and Dave Collins. All three names were also listed as ex-players. That's 3 out of 3. It looks like the problem that existed in 07/08 exists in the upcoming version too. (A problem also seems to exist with the name "Takahashi": 5 coaches had this last name and so too did a couple of players (one of which, I think, became a coach). I'm not sure of the frequency of this name but this seems a really high number for one particular name). Edit: And I might add...Q.E.D. ![]() Last edited by BPS : 06-01-2008 at 01:27 AM. |

Any help for a sill relative noob is appreciated. Thanks (And if anyone knows the answer to my other workaround question concerning crashes when promoting personnel, its in the Markus Alert - Logged Issue thread down a ways on this page. ) |

That has been replied to in that thread, but in case you missed it in all the irrelevance about spelling and threatening to quit, the answer was 'no workaround'.

New Available Coaches data posted.
We now have 5 redundant names in the available coaches list. Of these, 3 had the same name as a retired player. And of these, 2 were the same age. Dae-hwan Sin appears as the name of a manager and a hitting coach in the available coach list. Both of these "coaches" are listed as 48 years old. And a Dae-hwan Sin is listed as a retired player. Cesar Martinez is listed as a manager and as a hitting coach. Both of these coaches are listed as 51 years old. And a Cesar Martinez is listed as a retired player. The above suggests that the game is still producing multiple versions of some retired players who go into coaching. Of course, the above is for only those listed as available coaches. More redundant named coaches might also appear if employed coaches are investigated. On the other hand, a Juan Silva is listed as a pitching coach and as a manager on the available coaches list. But one is listed as 43 and the other as 49. A Juan Silva is also listed as a retired player. But whether he is one (or both) of the coach Juan Silvas is not clear. |

OT, but here's another minor beef. Why do all the Latin players have Latin first names? There are not an insignificant number of American born Hispanics with names like 'Bob' or 'Erik'. Sometimes they don't know a word of Spanish. I know a few.
