How would you like ot have these numbers and not win the MVP?
batting avg: .426 Hr: 10 RBI's: 75 SB: 40 OBP: .485 Runs:98 That is what Rod Carew did in my 1977 season! The MVP winner you ask? Oscar Gamble and these are his numbers: BA: .373 Hr: 66 RBI's: 175 Hmm the more I look at him the more I can see him winning it but still don't you think if a hitter batted .426 he would win every freaking award? Gamble had to have been on some super roids as the year before he hit 12 dingers and his highest homer total was 4 years earlier at 22!! Something else that is cool from that season is that the computer picked a reliever for the Cy Young award. Never saw that before.

While hitting over .400 is obviously an awesome achievement, I think batting average is a weak stat when it comes to MVP. Carew created far more runs for his team, and that's what being an MVP is about.
At least in my own non-stathead opinion. ![]()
