Better ST Weather, Anyone?

It's always seemed weird to me whenever I play or check box scores for spring training games and see the wicked cold temperatures. And since weather does have an impact on injuries and fatigue, I thought I'd improve this situation.

So, if anyone is interested, I've attached my modified weather.txt file that has all North American cities weather data modified to have Florida/Arizona type weather in spring training (assuming spring training occurs in March in your league). I did not get so specific as to assign actual spring training sites to actual big league cities, I merely improved the weather for the month of March for all North American cities to reflect generic Arizona/Florida type weather.

I thought I'd put it here in case anyone else is interested and always hated the way spring training games were played in 20 and 30 degree weather. If you're interested just place this in your MyDocuments\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 8\data\database\ folder, replacing the existing weather.txt file. As always, you should make a backup of your current weather.txt file first.

If you'd like the changes to take affect on a league you've already started, you will need to go to League Options>Edit Ballparks and select a ballpark and click on the Weather tab and click on Reimport Weather Database. It will automatically take affect on any new leagues you create.

EDIT: Noticed that for some reason my changes in possibility of precipitation didn't take affect, so I uploaded the new one. Don't know how that happened. Not a big deal though if you already downloaded since there's no rainouts anyway and the temperature changes were there.

Will I have to do this for every ballpark?

If you click on Reimport Weather database, it will update the weather for ALL cities, so you only need to do this once. However, I should point out that for teams playing in a domed stadium, this might change the standard 75 degree, 1 MPH weather conditions for all months. I'm not sure because I don't have any of my teams in a domed stadium. I've already got the Twins playing in their new Twins Stadium.

If it does change your domed team's weather, after you reimport the database you can go to the teams that have a dome and manually change all months back to the standard 75 degree, 1 MPH weather conditions by typing in the boxes.

Thanks for the update. I am managing the Toronto Blue Jays at the present time so I will have to check the standard 75 degree, 1 mph weather conditions for all months as per your suggestion.

Exclamation

I find Spring Training a huge pain, so I always shut it off. But why not set it up so each team has a second home field for Spring Training only? Or have all ST games in "Old League Park", where it's always sunny and 80 degrees?

It's been suggested. I went further and proposed that teams in OOTP have three definable home parks: one for spring training and two for the regular season. The two for the regular season is to cover those years where teams changed parks during a season or split their home games between two different stadiums.

Apparently, coding this is more difficult than it would seem.
