I was under the impression the game already gave second round picks if the first round pick wasn't available. I don't often play with compensation, so forgive me if I'm wrong.
The biggest need for the compensation aspect of the game is the need for a news event that lists the type A and B free agents.

markus, could you add the option to turn off draft pick compensation altogether (this option may already be in v8, i dunno)? or better yet, make an option to allow for compensation regardless of where a team picks in the next year's draft?
would either of these ideas be fairly easy/difficult to implement into the game at some point? thanks, ken

You can already turn off draft pick compensation (in fact, I believe the default is for it to be off) in both 8 and 2007. I think you could do the same in 2006, as well.
