How will you play come release day?

Myself.. I haven't used ootp 8 really but for my online league that I'm in. Howver, With the vastly improved historical model.. I like to start out with the default real rosters, let the game play a few seasons, then have an expansion draft for 2 added teams and take over one of them. Also, I'll probably pick a year and start a play all the games with my Cardinals.

One question though.. With all the changes do we need a modified Lahman database or can we just download the current one and things import correctly?

Can't wait till the 18th .. Chuck

I unfortunately am on-call for work that week so I will be up to my elbows in making sure everything is running correctly at work on the 18th and will only be able to dl OOTP9 at best that day. Odds are I will not be able to get into playing the game starting the evening of the 23rd.

But on that evening......

Historical of the 1947 season
Historical/Fictional with a draft starting in 1947
Full fledged fictional starting in 1947
Watch my Dodgers stink up the joint in 2008

So many decisions.... too many decisions

Every year I say I will start a league, or play some games, but I always end up spending the first few days just exploring the new interface, features, and tinkering with things, before I ever start actually playing games. With that said, I'm looking forward to playing out a game so I can check out the new ball animations. Also, I want to start a fictional league to sim with,

Real life teams, but fictional players. Play out every game as manager, but let the AI do GM stuff.

I'll probably start a game in 1871 and run a few test sims through 2007/2008. Once I figure out the way I want the league to play and set up my baseball world, I'm thinking I might try and play out every game starting in 1871 and see how far I get.

You know all those 1901 dynasties that last about a (simulated) year or two? Now, they'll be starting in 1871!

I created an "orderly" baseball universe that begins way back in 1855, but I haven't figured out a way to actually play it...

I'll probably play the game with my mouse and keyboard. But that plan may change.

One thing I do need is a mambo template configured as a newspaper sports pages. if any know of something like this, would appreciate it.

Any intersested in viewing this will be able to on soxxcountry.com, a Fidel Montoya site.

Honestly? Try and figure it out. The demo of OOTP 8 has a lot of functionality I'm tring to figure out, and all of it and more will be in OOTP 9. I'm figuring it will be a really good game, but the learning curve is going to be a bit of a hassle.

Ideally I'd be trying it out with a manager league letting the AI do the GMing, to get my feet wet, using the 2001 league (trying to see if I can get the Mariners further than Piniella did). But first I have to figure out how to do it....
