AI will not play the correct lineup?
I set my lineups, but when I look at the boxscores, the player I set to leadoff never plays. It's been about 5 games now and he doesn't even have an AB. The AI starts the backup. I'm in commish mode. I double checked the lineups and depth charts and he's not injured. The only thing I don't control in the manager options is 'minor league lineups/depth/pitching'.
Anyone know why the AI is over riding my lineups? edit: this is ootp 2007 btw edit 2: ok, I removed the backups on the depth chart (the first one said 'ev. 3rd game and the other one was set to ev. 7th game) and it's playing him now.

I have brought this up in several previous threads (I believe the word I used was "abysmal"). I believe that things may be improved with OOTP 9.
If backup players are in the lineup that day, the AI doesn't know where to put them so it may just generate a new lineup. For the moment, the best that you can do is give yourself substitution control at the game preview screen and rearrange the lineups. Then, when the game starts, give substitution control back to the AI coach and play the game. For what it's worth, this is the system that I use for setting lineups... 1. Assign the best power hitters to the 4 & 5 positions. 2. Assign the best OBP player to lead off. 3. Assign the players with the highest BAs to the 2 & 3 positions. 4. Assign the last 3 players to the 6, 7, & 8 positions. Lets hope that Markus has corrected this problem in OOTP 9.
