Don't be silly. It's MGOM. Things that apply to we mere mortals, like using a reply button so that conversations have some sense of order to them, do not apply.

I specifically remember one spelling out "MARKUS EATS POOP", so yes.

I don't know what to believe about him anymore.

The better side of me wants to think of him as genuine and as somebody who is dealing with a problem and needs our help and support. The other side of me is concerned about looking foolish and naive, jerked around by somebody playing a stupid game. The "Markus eats . . ." thing bothers me; that's been mentioned several times.

Also, I notice that he will usually ask a question, or put out one of his non sequitur rambling wish lists, and never come back to respond or follow up. I'm starting to think for those reasons that he really does not need feedback and conversation; posting his thoughts seems to be all that he really needs from these forums.

So, to resolve this dilemma for myself, I have placed mgom27 on my ignore list. He is the first and only member that I have ever done so, and that's saying something considering some of the characters that I have run across here.

It will be interesting to see how that feature works; I've often wondered. I mean, do I even see that he has posted a thread, or is it a blank row, or is it like it never happened?

I thought you might have saved that honour for one of us BoSox or Mets fans

To be fair, he does follow up. But instead of hitting the reply button to do so like a normal person, he edits his original post. He "replies" the same way in many of his threads, making the threads read fairly oddly.

Do we have any evidence of this or is this mere speculation??? 1998 Yankees has now placed this guy on ignore (which is his right regardless) based on this. If there is some evidence to this, then I too am bothered and would no longer want to help mgom.

However, if this is just some rumor based on similar letters in a screen name and it is in fact merely somone young or someone struggling because english is the second language, then I, for one, would like to offer assistance. On the off chance that I might ACTUALLY be able to help, of course.

SO, any evidence???

His sports talk threads suggest that he's screwing around, he's never made an effort to make anyone think any different.

It's the same guy. While he still posts nonsense and has started the whole thing with not using the reply button anymore, he hasn't pulled any of the antics that have gotten him banned before.

By the way, from what I remember (I wasn't a moderator last time he was banned) the actual banning came from something more vulgar than just the "Marcus eats poop" line, and I believe there was another version of him banned for something at some point as well.

All that said, banned people are allowed to return here to a point, they just get a shorter leash. For all he irritates me, MGOM has been well-behaved in terms of the board rules this time around. So he deserves credit for that.

I'll answer that as best I can, OFG. Some innocuous mgsports posts, so that you can see why it is thought that he and mgom are one and the same, beyond the name similarities:

Quote:
You can create them in free-agent market or probley in the editor but that would take a lot of people to do or in the next version of Laheman's Database he could include the minor league teams not to be empty but have the apporiate players and pitchers on them from that year
If you were creating 2003 Marlins most of their minor league players and pitchers are in Halofan rosters
Quote:
I perdict it will have everything that baseball does in Spring Training in this games that isn't in it yet! If might be time to ask what are going to be the features of Spring Training!
Quote:
They could add maybe Dave O'Brien and Rcik Sutcliffe voice to do the play by play! You probley can add the players and pitchers stats so far for this year in an Editor!
Does this happen Minor League trades for players and pitchers not on your 40 man rosters and if it does I would like to see it in the game!
Quote:
Penguins to Kansas City!
Have you been to Citrus Bowl the UCF'S Knights current home a NFL team could play their!
If the Magic get a new Arena then the TD Waterhouse Center could be used for an NHL team!
Seals are know the Florida Seals and play in Kissimmee,FL! The Solar bears got Contracted or what ever you call it after the year they won the Turner Cup Championship because their league the International League folded and the Players from the Solar Bears joined a new team in the AHL called the Chicago Wolves!
Don't Disney in California own the Angels if so then Disney in Oralndo could own a team along with Pat Williams that use to own the Orlando Cubs/Twins and I think the Rays and they would paly at Cracker Jcak Stadium where the Braves hold home Spring Training games!
If the Magic move to let say Kansas City then Oralndo will get a team back!
St. Louis and Tampa Bay are due for an NBA team!
Toronto want's an NFL team!
Quote:
MLB would only expand to Mexico City and P.Rico!
The NHL needs only 2 new divisions the Midwest and all Canada divisions!
They should get rid of the Northwest division because Vancouver is then only city at the moment in the Northwest that has a team!
In ever other sport Minnesota is in the Central but not in Hockey!
Colorado is geographically in the West or Midwest or Midcentral!
Dallas is geographically in the Midsouth or Midcentral or Midwest!
Washington is geographically in the Altantic!
And some of his spelling posts that weren't deleted (bolding mine):

Quote:
I know a joke you will
Laugh at: a guy walks into the doctor and says
I have a problem you might
Know how to help me with...
Everytime I have a big
Fart it makes a weird sound out of my
Arse and I think I hear the word "honda"!!!
Really? Says the the doctor.
That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard!
Just "honda"? Let me talk to the rest of my practice about this.
Okay I consulted with the other doctors and I
Know what the problem is.
Everyone thinks you have an abcess.
Surely you just! The patient yells at the doctor.
Tell me why you think I have an abcess?!?
Okay, it's pretty simple actually even though most doctors
Overlook this diagnosis:

AN ABCESS MAKES THE FART GO HONDA!!!

Quote:
I just want it to be realistic like Mogul is
Where you move a guy to the pen
I see his Endurance go down and his Power and Movement go up
Some of the ERA effect you see with relievers
Has to come from usage differences
More runs are scored in first inning than
Any other cause lineups are
Really built to maximum run
Creation in the first
While relievers never pitch the first inning
Other benefits include lefty-righty match
Up favor relievers and
Lineups get to see starters 3 or 4 times and I read a study
Describes how batters do actually learn
Each time through increasing
Average and power apart from fatigue effects
The rest of the ERA improvement from starter to relief is
Probably due to more rest and less fatigue leading to
Overall arm strength freshness and velocity proven by Smoltz
Out of the pen throws several MPH faster than he did
Primarily as a starter so OOTP needs to reflect these facts

And then there was this mysteriously comprehensible post:

Quote:
Hopefully this thread convinces Markus to "totally re-write" if he hasn't already. A park factor is a park factor. They are derived from stats. So if a park has a 200 park factor for homers, you should see twice as many homers. If you don't, I'm having a really hard time imagining how that isn't a bug.

Of course, if Markus can post and let us know that he's fixed this is 2006 -- or explain why it's not a bug and we just don't understand -- that would be a big help.

So, there's no doubt about what the "other" mg was, what he was doing, and why he was banned. The only question is whether or not you believe he and mgom are the same person.

Circumstantial, but convincing nonetheless. Recommended:

You can't really close it, either.

But well done on your use of the "reply" button.

Question

I find that I can't put mgom on my ignore list. Is this because I already have the wolf on my ignore list and the list is limited to one poster?

Curtis, I had no problem adding YOU to the list with the other guy; you have to wait until the name comes up and then hit enter.

Now, the question is, do I LEAVE you on the list?

Just kidding. You? Never.

Upon first read, I thought you were implying that one was the alias of the other. An interesting thought, to say the least

I'm willing to IMPLY anything about the wolf, but I can't SAY anything, or I'll get another pre-warning.

And THAT is my 2500th post.
