Question about NRI and Playoff Rosters for OOTP9
I did a quick search but didn't find any recent info on these two topics - figured I'd ask before I put in my pre-order.
1) Does OOTP9 have a non-roster invite feature for spring training yet? I play out my spring training games so I can get a look at some of my new young players who just imported (I play historical), but I hate that I have to add them to the 40-man roster and start their option year clocks in order to see them play. If this didn't make it into OOTP9, I assume it's too big of a request for a patch - but I really hope it's considered for OOTP10. 2) Does OOTP9 have a specific playoff roster yet? I've run into problems where I've got folks on my 40-man roster that are part of the expanded September active roster but are out of options, and I now have to waive them or DFA them if I make the playoffs to cut my active roster back down to 25 for the postseason. IRL, I shouldn't have to make those DFA/waives until the beginning of next season, right? I'm not positive if I'm thinking this out right, but IRL I believe the once the "active" roster expands to 40-man on September 1, it stays at 40-man until the following season begins and it drops back down to 25. The playoff roster, if you make the playoffs, is a separate 25-man subset of your 40-man active roster. I think that's how it works in real life, and I'd love for OOTP to mirror that so I don't have to cast off players I might not be ready to cast off yet. Thanks - and feel free to straighten me out if I'm wrong about anything above! ![]() |

A MLB team has a 40-man roster from Sep. 1st until the completion of the postseason. Also a player that has not been on the 25-man roster before August 31st is ineligible for post-season play, another rule I would like to see OOTP incorporate.
From Wikipedia.org: "Each Major League Baseball team maintains both a 25-man roster and a 40-man roster of players. Players on the 25-man roster are eligible to play in official major league games throughout the season. The 40-man roster includes the players on the 25-man roster plus as many as 15 other players who are either on the team's 15-day disabled list (see below) or who are in the team's minor league system. From September 1 through the end of the regular season, any player on the 40-man roster (also referred to as the "expanded roster") is eligible to play in an official regular season game. Players must be on a team's 25-man roster as of August 31 to be eligible for post-season play. The only exception is that a player on the 60-day disabled list may be replaced by another player from the team's 40-man roster (as of August 31) who plays the same position."
