Keeping track of weak positions/players

Is there an in game feature that lets you `flag' your weak positions/players so you don't have to `remember' everything.

I'm familiar with the `short list' feature, but mainly I use it for scoping new talent.

I'd like to see a system where you could go to a screen that showed all your `flagged' weak positions/players, and then, right from that screen, go into a trading screen, for example.

Absolutely nothing. Just the short list. Which you can use for that very reason, but simply set up some filters so you can switch between the 'good' players and the 'weak' ones (especially once OOTP9 comes out and we can filter based on statistical output).

There's the Positional Strength report, on your team's homepage, which shows your teams' players' quality relative to the league, via position.

I just started with OotP8. How does this feature work? There are three strengths listed. Is one for the major leaguers, one for the minor system and one combined?

It looks as though it's one for the single best player at that position, one for the best prospect and one combined, but I hope that's not it. My team platoons at five positions, so just using the best player should undervalue. And three of the players listed as prospects are actually on my top level roster.

One of the short cheats, if you want to call it that, I use is the initiate trade function. I don't go there to trade, but to read the summary about my team's weakness. It's short, sometimes I don't agree, but it's one more quick assessment I can use.

That is pretty much how it works. I doubt it expects to have to deal with five platoons.

It generally lists the best player at said position at the major league level, the minor league level, then combines the scores and compares it to everyobe else for the overall value.

Thanks for the explanation, Kelric.

So, when it tells me my overall starting pitching is 8th in a twelve team league, it's really only saying that the combination of my 'ace' (who doesn't rank in the top 19 starters) and my AA prospect average out to 8th. No concept about my other four top level starters, two of which should still be in AA. (My guess is that I'm closer to 12th than 8th.) And the same for middle relievers; even though there are a bunch of them at all levels, the evaluation is done on just two.

Well, that's quick and dirty, and not as useful as I thought it would be.

Edit: I was just checking out a league with no minors, and it turns out the same player is listed as starter and prospect at each position. What's seriously weird about that is that if the guy is ranked 1 for the position, he'll be ranked 2 as a propect, and vice versa (two team league). The overall value seems to be assigned randomly.
