New job
So I was offered a new job which I accepted. I'm sitting at my desk writing up my resignation for my current employer and I'm trying to decide on a "last day". I decided on:
"..... and my last day will be June 18, 2008". When I handed it in the Human Resources lady said, "June 18? That's a Wednesday, right? Kind of an odd day to pick as your last". To which I replied, "You wouldn't understand". ![]() |

That may be the best marketing testimonial in OOTP history.

I may have gone with the 17th just to make sure I can be nice and lazy about waking up on the 18th and looking for the OOTP download, but I suppose that works too.

Very good. "Yup, I quit my job so I could play more OOTP!"
Good luck Kemp. I hope you told your new employers that you had to give two weeks notice at your old job, starting June 18 . . . ![]()

very nice - I would like to quit on Wed too, but I work for myself.
I usually take off the first couple of days after a release, but have been slammed with projects so it doesn't look like it is going to happen this year. ![]() at least my wife knows that when "OOTP comes out" she is on her own for a few days.

I actually had a similar situation. As a college student being off for the summer, there's a growing pressure from the parents to find a summer job. With the economy on a downturn and me with little marketable skills, I cannot bring myself to work in fast food.
When asked once again about what I intended to do for a summer job, I told them coming June 18th, I would be the GM of a club of my choosing in OOTP. This would be my summer job. "You're going to play a baseball game for nearly 3 months?" I could tell at this point they weren't amused. Of course, I told them with my fantasy drafting skills, it could take a good 4-5 seasons before I'm ready to compete for a playoff run. The parents, armed with sarcasm, then asked me how much this would pay towards my college education. "It really just depends how much the owner offers me," I explained. "Sometimes there just isn't a whole lot of budget room after free agency." The conversation abruptly ended there and I was forced to clean the basement for a good few hours ![]() The moral of the story is...just tell your parents you have a summer job, invest in a decent laptop, and go out to the park every day from 10-5ish and play OOTP. Come back sweaty, demotivated, and tired, and they'll never suspect....mwahaha. |
