infamous unretires

I'm running through a test historical sim so I'm not 100% obsessed with "preserving the integrity of the results" and just noticed Chief Bender retired as the all-time wins leader on 399 wins. I just unretired him for the 1952 season at 68 years old in search of just one more victory and put him on the Braves where he spent 19 years of his career after being made the #2 overall pick in the 1902 draft by the then-named Beaneaters!

Haha.

Yeah, how many wins did he finish with?

This reminds me of that real life guy who played in a minor league game for both teams at the age of 84 or something.

I think Bender had 200+ wins in real life. Around that much anyway.

Minnie Minoso played in two games in 1980 for the Pale Hoes at the tender age of 55.

Jim Eriotes was the player you mentioned. He led off a Northern League game for the Sious Falls Canaries by striking out at the ripe age of 83.

I think he did exceptionally well for a 69 year old (his birthday was in May so he was 69 for most of the season) even though it was the worst of his career. 28 years after he last threw a pitch in the majors Bender went 7-22, 7.88 ERA, 252 innings, 323 hits, 34 strikeouts (the 34 saddest batters of all-time), 69 walks, 39 home runs allowed.

I should note that I disabled AI roster moves and installed him in the rotation for the season. He retired again immediately after the year.

Didn't he then get traded to the other team and lead off for them too?

Just checked, that was Buck O'Neil, and he was 94 link

And Ted Radcliffe Played at the age of 96, as a P
