Does anyone know if this has been fixed in OOTP 9? I can usually go a couple of weeks without this happening, but every time it does, I get furious all over again.

If someone on the tech support or beta testing team is willing, I'll zip up my league file and send it to you. Just pick a pitcher, edit his injury rating way high and his endurance way low, and play a game with him. Leave him in and wait for him to get hurt, and when he does - the game should either crash right after the play by play or right when you try to drag a substitute pitcher over him.

I really hope this is fixed for the new version or else I'm reluctant to pre-order.

Refresh my memory, hefa. Is this crashing regardless of when the injury occurs? Right after the injury as you've stated above? When he's on the mound or on the bases, or both? Does it matter, or does one type crash it exclusively?

Pitcher Injury: Please tell us it's fixed!

Yes, the pitcher injury bug was also the most frustrating I ever encountered in the game. If you were playing a live game and your pitcher got injured, a crash happened 100% of the time, and the game would have to be replayed. The result: your team would NEVER have a pitcher injured if you play out each game.

OOTP has know about this significant bug for well over a year, maybe even two. I love the game, and I understand how complex programming can be, but hard could it be to fix such an error?

I'd much rather have a bug like that fixed than have crowd noise in a spring training game.

What he said...

I have encountered three versions of this issue:

1) Where it crashes when I try to sub for the injured pitcher and it crashes as soon as I release the pitcher I've dragged into the "Pitcher" spot.
2) Where it crashes immediately following the play-by-play after the pitcher's injury (although this one happens to me rarely)
3) When the pitcher gets injured at the end of the game and I can't drag and drop a substitution because the game is over. However, one of the patches I believe provided a "Leave Game" button in the bottom left corner which I can use to exit the game, so that one can be worked around without a crash.

So basically, since I play out all my games, the only time a pitcher gets injured is if it happens outside a game (e.g. barfight, etc.) or on the very last play of a game.

I actually had it crash once when I tried to sub for an injured position player, but I only had that happen that one time. Haven't seen it again since.

Let me know if I can do anything to assist troubleshooting. It doesn't seem to be a global problem - some people claim they never run into this issue. But I've heard enough people complain about it to know that it definitely isn't just a weird quirk with my league. I just wish we could find the one commonality - it might help us figure out where in the code the bug is. My league is a historical league starting in 1970. I'm currently in 1973.

Ok, I've had this problem EVERYTIME my pitcher gets injured. I'm new to OOTP, and purchased the late last year, and it took some time to figure the game out and just this spring I've begun playing seriously. I like to play out ALL of my games, that's my style. And at the bottom of the screen, it says, "Play it your way". Well, guess what, I've got a built in HUGE advantage because I will never have to worry about pitcher's injuries. To me this is a MAJOR and game changing bug.

However, because I'm reading that some people aren't experiencing this, I was wondering if perhaps we, as a community, could troubleshoot this. I'm going to post on the General Board and see if I get responses. If the moderators move it back to Tech Support, so be it.

Ok,its happened again. My pitcher was injured and as soon as I tried to replace him,the game crashed. This problem is well documented and I don't understand why nothing is being done about.Ignoring the problem won't make it go away!
