Crash, Crash and Double Crash
Long time OOTP player here...lived through the screensavaer bugs and corrupt database crashes of previous versions.
After taking a few years off from OOTP, I recently bought OOTP 8 and immediately experienced crashes with accessing HTML reports from the Minor League Report screen. Then I experienced crashes accessing certain Batting Split pages. Now, after countless hours of playing in a league, OOTP tells me my database is corrupt! I've got a Quad Core, Vista , and never tweaked any files other then adding Ballpark Photos. So how does the database become corrupt?! Is it because of the in-game crashes? I am playing the 2007 Quick Start League. Could this be the source of the problems? I'm just a tad ticked that these problems have continued into OOTP 8 - especially after logging so many hours in my league. |

There have been a number of problems with the quickstart.
Remember to always back up leagues that are important to you in case of any corruption. Are the crashes reproducible? Do they only happen with the quickstart or any game you play?

Actually, my error, I didn't use the Quick Start. I started a new league based on the 2007 player set that came with OOTP. The only custom thing I did was add in ballpark photos...
The crashes were definitely reproducible...similar to other users (per other posts), HTML player reports were giving me all sorts of headaches, especially from the minor league report screen. Yeah, looks like I'll have to get into a regular habit of backing up the game...does it have an automatic backup option when quitting? If it doesnt, I suggest this as a future feature since crashes and data corruption doesnt appear all that rare. Seriously though, why do these databases corrupt so easily? I aboslute LOVE the game but this is a problem I've run into for years with OOTP and was hoping that it would be more stable by now. It's not so much the money I spent to buy the game, rather, it's the time already invested into it. Sorry, just venting a bit. |

exactly
It looks like you're having the same problem with the minor league reports as I am. I'm surprised these are the first posts I'm seeing on this issue. I would assume thats a pretty obvious problem.

I'm having trouble reproducing this crash. Could you give me the exact steps you took to make it happen?
When you're on the Minor League System Report screen, what do you do to cause it to crash? Can you even get to the Minor League System Report screen? Walk me through this so we can get this issue logged.

Neags, here's the path I would follow with my 2007 MLB League:
TEAM HOMEPAGE > MINOR LEAGUE SYSTEM> click on any player name > CRASH Make sense? I think this is the same issue other folks have encountered... FYI, to test, I started a fictional league and a second league based on 2007 players but cannot reproduce this error. Strange... |

I haven't been able to reproduce this, either.
I'm wondering if it has anything to do with FaceGen. Before the crash, did it make an attempt to create or update a picture? Can you see if this happens with FaceGen disabled?

I am keeping up with this topic. I'm having the same issue with my league. I'm in San Antonio for a wedding, when I get back I'll try to recreate the crash and disable facegen until we can figure it out.

Same problem with my game too. Did anyone have a fix for this?

Whatever happened has not been good
I wonder why SI dropped OOTP? Was it because of the people they were dealing with? The game was good before and during the time SI was involved, however, the game currently is unplayable. Talking to tech support is like talking to a used car salesman. I've enjoyed this game for years but it looks like the future is bleak for this game now.
