Gambo DB ver 1.75 Pure

NOTE: Error Found! Open the master.csv file in notebook or excel and search for dobyla01 (Larry Doby) and change his debut year to 1947!

I've finished up version 1.75 of my database. The is the corrected Pure version of the database many asked for. My next version will include Negro Leaguers, Japanese Players and hopefully others. In other words if you want to do an accurate historical MLB this is the one to go with.

I have sent it to Padres and the modsquad and hopefully it will be posted soon...

Here is the readme...

BTW though I state it is designed to use the recalc feature it is not mandatory and you can disable the option...

I've done the auto-setup part, but I don't know what to do within the actual game itself. I've never done this before, so that's probably why. Help?

well here is the funny thing or should I say sad thing. ever since i got my new laptop i don't have things like microsoft excel or other software but am limited to basic spreadsheet and microsoft works therefor i can not open a lot of documents such as this and lahmens database to get my historic league up and running. i am not interested in purchasing the software since i will basically never use it but am I basically S.O.L. or is there a way around these problems?

First of all, I really dig this DB. I started a league in 1976 and by 1979 my league is overran with studs under 25 years of age. For instance, 12 out of 20 of the top batters are under 25. I think the problem is that I am not using the recalc option. So, take Cal Ripken, he was drafted at age 18 with ratings of 4 (out of 10) across the board, basically, major league ready. He is starting in the majors by 1978 at age 19. In real life, he didn't play full time until 1982. This is the same for all stud draft picks, they get to the majors much faster than in real life. I just took a look at the 1979 draft pool. It has Jose Rijo as a 14 year old with 4/6/4 ratings (6/8/7 talents). He will probably be pitching in the Majors by age 16. Any ideas on a remedy for this? Maybe I'll have to edit all of these types of players, or change the development modifiers? Anyway, not sure where I was going with this, just a heads up to those using the DB.

If your goal is basically to keep teenagers out of the majors, you could set the minimum age for the major leagues at 20, 21, or 22, whatever you prefer. If you want to make them develop more slowly, I think there's a development modifier that will do that, but I've never used it and don't really know anything about it. I'm sure someone else can tell you (I'd like to know more about it too).

The issue is actually a recurring problem in OOTP. The game simply imports "real" rookies a bit too good. A player with 1 ratings across the boards does not perform at the major league level much worse than a 4. (essentially differing a .200 hitter and a .240 hitter). When it creates real rookies it assumes they are major leaguers so it will have slighly boosted ratings. Using the recalculate option does help this alot because it will bring the player down a bit in their 2nd season to realistic ratings. The downside is if you check your league you will see players sometimes spend their 1st season in the majors and their 2nd and 3rd in the minors. Eventually becoming a full time major leaguer near the actual point in their careers. You will see this less when using a draft however because the players will be drafted in December then recalculated in spring before the season starts.

I hope your next version includes Minor League teams. So like lets say we import the 65 Dodgers it's Farm Teams from that year would be imported meaning with Real People or import 1988 League and all the Major League and Minor League teams would be imported from that year.

This is essentially impossible to do due to how the game imports teams. Im sure if it was possbile somebody would have done it by now.

Theirs a Minor League Database out their but you have to pay for it.
Don't know if you can import teams from it.
The lastest version of it stops at 2004 from what I read about it on baseball1.com.

I'm working on it... I'm hoping to get a good bit of it done today. I have the stat lines for the Japanese players done and am currently working on the ones for the negro leaguers.

I am dying to get it done ASAP.
