Solo League Player Development Tracker
This is a very early beta version of a player development tracker for solo leagues. Getch has a much better utility for online leagues, but I haven't been able to find one that would do the same for solo.
The results for this program aren't nearly as pretty, either, as they are just output to text files or player history files. But it does the trick. Again, this is a very early beta release, and there are bound to be problems. I just hope it'll actually run. It requires the .NET framework to run. Unzip, and run the setup.exe. It will also create a start menu shortcut under the folder "Center of Excellence". That's the name of my company that the version of VS I used is registered to. I'm not sure how to change the folder of the start menu that it creates, so if anyone does, please let me know. Also, anyone that is interested and knows C# is welcome to dig through the code to help improve this program. It's fairly well commented and readable. The only feature of the program right now that is inoperable is the writing to player history in-game. It will write to the player history text file, but the game won't read it. This is a problem with the date formatting that I haven't figured out how to fix, yet. So, please give me as much feedback as you'd like, negative and positive (if any). I won't be able to release a patch or new version until probably a week from now, so hopefully by then there are a lot of problems to fix and suggestions to implement. Download Enjoy.

New version of this out, not that anyone seems to care.
![]() I included an option to show only the results of the team of your choice in the program window. Also included an OK button to click after inputting the league folder import/export path in case you don't use the browse button. Has really no one tried this? There are 203 views and only one comment from an actual user...

I don't think I get that many comments on the stuff I've done, and I think Larry has the same thing as well. I remember a post Larry made a while ago about the lack of comments on his mods, and I've done a fair few things on my machine that haven't made light of day because it hardly seems worth releasing to a sea of antipathy. I'll probably just keep my OOTP2008 stuff to myself when that comes out...

Hmm... is there a way to check number of downloads if I just threw the file into a folder on the server?

Is it not hosted on a server you have access to the logs for? I always host my stuff mainly on servers I have log access to, which means I can see how/when it gets downloaded.

It's a site I built from godaddy.com, so I don't have access to the server itself, just anything in my account.
Where would these logs be?

My apologies for not thanking both of you for the work you've done to improve OOTP and my gaming experience. When I use a utility, I tend to read the thread, download the utility, install and use it, and then only go back to the thread if I'm having problems. Maybe you should build a little feedback applet in that will pop-up and ask them about their experience... then destoy their hard drive if they respond negatively. Just kidding about the last bit.Regards, JeffG

Neags- haven't treid your program yet- but I plan to use it- and think it's a great idea. I will certainly give feedback once I fire it up. |

Anyway, if there's a directory you don't recognise have a look in there and see if there are files that have a date structure to their name. It's likely that these are a log file. Open them up and have a look. If it is, search for your download file name and see how often it occurs.

Hmm... I think this is showing 39 downloads. Who knows how many of those are me downloading my own program...

If you know your IP address, you can rule them out by looking at the source IP column. There's more than likely 2 columns that look like IP addresses - one of which should be constant, so it's the other one that gives where the requests are coming from.

There is an all new version of the oh-so-popular(
) devTracker now out!New features: *Added a date stamp to the results file *The results file will tell you how long since the baseline was created *The baseline is date and time stamped *You can now choose where to store your results! *You now only choose your league folder instead of your import_expore folder *May or may not handle accented characters properly! *Automatically populates your player history folder *Link on the bottom for suggestions and feedback *Tells you where your results will be saved before you run the program *Now saved to your start menu under "devTracker" *Much, much more! (Well, not really. That's just all I can remember right now) There were also a few bug fixes. This has worked well on all of my test leagues. So please let me know if something is broken or not working right or anything at all. Or just to tell me the stupid program sucks. All feedback is welcome! This will probably be the last release of devTracker unless there are a lot of serious bugs. Time to start on that next mod. Never should have started this.... now I'll never actually play the game..... ![]()

One way to get more downloads is to ask PadresFan to host your mod on his site. I know many OOTPers check his site frequently for updates and new material!!!

It's not necessarily the number of downloads I'm concerned about. It's the number of downloads vs. the amount of feedback. If 40 people download the program, and only 2 say anything about it (good, bad, or ugly)...... well, that kinda sucks.

Major Bug Fix!
When the game introduces a new player, sometimes the player ID doesn't just go one higher than the last player. Sometimes it decides to sneak in and use an old player ID. I didn't know that. So that caused a lot of problems if a player say... 1451 randomly popped up after you run the baseline. Because the baseline doesn't know who 1451 is, it just decides to compare it to the previous guy in the baseline who may be 1450. That makes all the comparison's off by one guy, and you get results that look like: Player A batting power rating changed from 79 to 1. And that might give you a heart attack if Player A is your stud clean up guy. So, now the program checks player ID's to make sure that we're on the same page. Feeder league bug also fixed. So, download the latest version!!!

First off, I'd love to use this and many of redsoxford's tools, but as a Mac user, I can't (I assume). Still, I hope you'll continue making them- I'm sure there are many people who aren't vocal about their appreciation.
I've had issues with recycled player ids as well. When the option 'Delete Retired Players who never made the Majors' is on, the game will reuse ids when career minor leaguers retire. Leaving this option on actually leads to many somewhat unexpected issues (one I just reported to Tech Support), even if it keeps file size down. In any case, I expect that's what you've noticed. |

All you need is the .exe from the mod maker, the mono framework, and I'd have to do a bit of GUI re-writing. If there is sufficient interest, I'll look into the re-writing part.
