Quick Jersey Creation ?

I'm a little confused on creating a fictional jersey. I have downloaded some jerseys that seem to be both the jersey and jersey logo. However, while reading around on the topic I sometimes see the jersey logo as a separate image file from the jersey.

Can anyone clarify which way is correct? or can it be done both ways?

The jersey files are the end result of putting a jersey logo together with the colors, stripes, and jersey type. It is ideal to get the jerseys if you just want to download them and roll. But if you want to make changes in the future you'll want the jersey logo as well, so you can create a new jersey. Hope that helps.
