Using players from a roster pack?
Just got 2008 and never played 2007 but had versions 5 and 6. I seem to recall a setting where we could select a roster of players to generate a league on but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do so in 2008.
For example, I have downloaded CubbyFans pack here: CubbyFan's 2008 Roster Set Release (link inside) Now, I can put that in the save_game folder and access it but I can't seem to change much in the league itself (like I want to start a custom league) like change league names etc. Basically I am wanting to create a fictional league with say 20 teams and use the players from these roster packs. Am I going about it all wrong? Should I be looking into templates? |

I dunno. I was able to load up Cubby's game, add a test league with fictional players, delete it again, delete all free agents to eliminate scrubs, edited MLB to add two brand new teams, released all players and scheduled inaugural draft, took control of the expansion Denver Sand Gnats, maneuvered the draft order so that the Gnats were first, found Barry Bonds, took him with my #1 draft pick, and made him a Sand Gnat as his just reward.
![]() Cubby's roster is just another saved game with tailored rosters, logos, uniforms, and such. It should operate like any other saved game. Note that in order to do what I did above, it was preseason (which it is when you first call up Cubby v. 3.0 at least) and I was commissioner in order to maximize my creative powers.
