Player Ratings for Entire Organization?

In OOTP2007, it seems that scouts only give you their list of your top ten players plus a separate top ten prospects list.

But I'm looking for a ranking of your entire organization - from top to bottom like you got in OOTP6.5. Telling me that three of my top ten players are pitchers is one thing, but I need to know my top 11-12 pitchers to fill out my pitching roster, for example, besides my 13-14 position players.

Also, how do I 'know' when my prospects are overtaking some of my regulars in their ranking - will my scouts tell me that Player A should move up to the bigs? Or that my 12 year starting 1B should now make way for his backup?

Just want to be sure I'm not missing something.

Thanks (for your patience)!

Don't believe there is a simple way to do this. If you are using star ratings you could go by those to determine who your best pitchers are and who the best players at each position is. The Position Strength report will identify the best player at each positon (I'm assuming according to SISA) so in that sense you'll know when a minor league player has grown past someone in the majors.
Oh, you can use the Minor League report to get a quick snapshop (again, in the opinion of some mythical scout) who is ready to move up to the next level or even the majors. this is similar to the minors report from 6.5. If it says someone is ready for the majors, the at least you can use that as a starting point to compare that player with everyone else at the position you currently have in the majors.

Short of that, I think that's the fun of OOTP...you have to take the time and study all your players and decide when someone is "ready" so to speak.

This is one of the flaws of the newer versions in my opinion. In previous versions it was easy to go to a roster page and select 'all players of organization' in the dropdown and quickly & easily compare every player you've got in order to build your best 25-man roster. In OOTP'07 or v.8 it's a little harder, multiple-step process, because I haven't found a way to get players from different levels of the organization onto the same list. You'll need to promote the obvious stars first, then compare remaining players at each level of your system to figure out the best ones and send them up a level, replacing from below, and so on.

Thanks for the responses! Yeah I can certainly see the 'fun factor' in the challenge of relying on your own 'knowledge' and 'instincts'. If that is the intent, then I'm fine with that. At least I'm not missing a screen or scout assignment that would provide such information.

Still, it does seem strange to me that a scout will spend the time to look over your team and only give you a partial report, which he is in fact doing, since he has to look at all the players in order to glean the top 10 players and prospects. I mean, why not just give the whole report? Don't just tell me my best players; tell me who are my weaker players as well.

The scouts do get all the information you're looking for, it's just not presented easily to you in the way you're looking for. When you assign your scouts to scout a league, organization, or team, they do scout every player in question. I actually find it quite useful to have multiple scouts review my players. The additional ratings observations give me a good idea of a player's actual skill level.
