Fictional League(s), real players

I've looked, and perhaps I'm getting lost in the technicals or the jargon, but I want to create a fictional league, then import historical players (I assume from Lahman's database), starting, say in 1956. 24 teams and I want the new players eligible for the draft each season to be real players.

Can someone please tell me the easiest way to do this? This would be a fictional yet historical league. I did it in an older version, but I've not been able to figure out how to do it in this version.

Thank you!

Make sure you set your starting year to 1956 lets say, (the game must be on the same year you wish to import from the db), Then create your league(s), then under draft check the import from DB option, point the game to the DB and then deside if you want more players create. if you want real players to already be in the league, you must import the league as a historical replay, then change the teams as you wish, but remember to uncheck the update league options (or the next season it will go back to MLB for that year).

How do you point the game to the DB? Where is the DB? Is this a database I could download?

If I choose to go the historical route, What/where are "update league options?"

Thanks again.

In the draft section, when you click on import real rosters there is an option to put the path to the DB, if you have 8 it's in the DB folder, if you have 2007 you have to go to the baseball1.com site and download it.

under the last tab.

I still don't see where the database is under the database folder. Is there an FAQ or something around to help me with this problem?

any luck?

Frank,

Did you get any response? I could not find the data base either and wanted to start a fictional eague with a current real player draft for a 20 team league.

I did not get an answer to this question. Right now, Im playing a fictional league with fictional players and enjoying it, so i'll revisit this issue later. I think the best thing to do, if you want to use current players, is to start a historical league, then dump all the players. Then then re-tool the teams accordingly and edit the league structure and so forth. Then re-draft all the players. If you start with current rosters, the game will then generate fictional players for subsequent seasons i think. You'd have to delete a number of teams and re-do the league structure. When i get around to doing this i will post my update, but im not sure when that will be.

I don't have 8 so I don't know where the DB folder is but you can download it (or the previous version) from baseball1.com With the baseball1.com you can put it anywhere
