The Virtual General Manager League
The Virtual General Manager League, or VGML for short, is going to move into its second season, and moving to OOTP 2007 as it does so. The first season was a success, but many did not have the time or could not move along with us to the new version of OOTP, so we're reaching out for new owners as we get the league up to date. There are empty teams in any situation you would like to adopt, which I will mention below. Some features of the league include:
You can check out the league further by downloading the league file and logging in under the "View Only (no team)" name. Here is the link to the league file. You can either AIM message me at ThaRyzinEnagy, or my co-commish at VGMLseattle, and we will get you taken care of. You may also PM me on this forum, or e-mail me at elvinglara@gmail.com to sign up or for more information. You can also post a message on the waiting list if you are not able to reach either one of us (unlikely), over on the forum's waiting list, which this link will lead you to. One word of caution, though. This league has scouts, and so will require more of a time commitment than most leagues, but is certainly more rewarding when you lead the team to success. The question is: Will you be able to handle it? Last edited by RyzinEnagy : 05-27-2007 at 07:37 PM. |

Woops. Forgot about that.
http://www.nyyankeefans.com/VGML.html The site is a work in progress currently, as we went through the first season without one, but you can expect a snazzy site in the near future. I also added contact information as well as the league forum to the first post. Last edited by RyzinEnagy : 05-21-2007 at 12:39 AM. |

Just to cheerlead the league a bit...
The great feature about this league is that one team is not going to dominate the league due to the rules package and other features of the league like the aging settings and such. We had about 10 teams the first year that could have easily taken the championship. We will have more this year as teams can rebuild quickly and compete. Prospects are plentiful as mentioned in the first post and move through the minors quickly. Veteran's prime years (especially pitcher's) are somewhat shorter, so trade activity is higher and you will find that we have a lot of good GMs that are active and willing to trade. This is good league for newbies (as I was one) and experienced GMs (as the majority in the league are). The GMs in the league know what they are doing so the league is competitive, but also helpful for newbies. As for the "work-in-progress" homepage, just check out the League Forum You can get a feel about the GMs in the league and the league itself. We have not been able to sim in two weeks due to the patch, but the forum is still very active. We are ready to go now. This is fun, challenging, and addictive league. Edit: We also have our own chatroom for trade talk, drafts, and just to shoot the "breeze". This is a good way to get to know the other GMs and get deals done quick. We're getting some really good GMs so far, so join up for a great league.
Also, to entice you some more, here is a little more about the available teams: Pittsburgh Pirates: The Pirates strength is their bullpen. With both Mike Gonzalez and Brad Lidge the door is shut. They have a great young C in Dourmit and some real good spects in the minors. They are a little way off, but due to the way the league is structured, they could be lethal in a year or two. Kansas City Royals: Believe it or not, the Royals are not in that bad of shape. They have a solid young four SP that includes SP Barzilla (who was mentioned in the Cy Young, yes that's right, a Royal!). They also have a good Bullpen in AAA. Overall their pitching is solid. They are in need of some position players, but have some growing down of the farm. Colorado Rockies: This team is going to be good, no great. The previous GM held all his talent down in AAA last year and this team is ready to explode. With studs in 3B Ian Stewart and C Iannetta, along with an entire ML Staff, this team is packed with good young talent and should be good for many, many years. Edit: Somebody please take this team. I want this team, but I already have one. This is a great team. Also, RyzinEnagy is the Padres so you can beat him! He thinks his is going to make the playoffs... There are some great teams left for all types of GMs. This is a fantastic and very active and friendly league. We have a great time together and would like more GMs to be apart of the fun. Join today! You will have a blast! Edit to remove taken teams...(5-26) Last edited by peanburn : 05-26-2007 at 01:56 PM. |

We just established high school and college feeder leagues to make drafts more realistic, as you can follow players you're interested in year round. We're always coming up with new ideas to make the league better. Join today!
